I apologize if this is the wrong forum, but I figure most people are looking here right now and not the ME1 forum.  I'm in the process of replaying ME1 and ME2 again to be ready for ME3.

I just finished a Hardcore playthrough of ME1, I want to import a level 60 character so I am doing a 2nd playthrough.  But I want to do this playthrough on Insanity.  What I am mainly after is the achievement for an Insanity playthrough.  However, when you import an existing character, it does not ask you what difficulty before you start, so I had to change the difficulty in game after the initial cutscene.

The description of the achievement says to finish on Insanity without changing the difficulty.  Is this run gonna count because I had to change to Insanity right at the start, or am I gonna have to do a 3rd run for the achievement?

It should count right at the start, iirk you had to do the first playthrough on normal to inlock the insanity option.

Change the difficulty as soon as you are able to - aboard the normandy.

No, you can feel free to be on any difficulty so long as by the time you finish Eden Prime, you are on Insanity.

I'm not sure, but I think it'll be fine as long as you don't change the difficultly after Eden Prime. I did the same thing you did (importing a character for Insanity) so I must have had to do what you did (it's been so long I can't really remember, though).

I can confirm what they said, change it right away first chance you have, just don't change it after. It's worked for any difficulty related achievement. :)

Thanks for the help guys, I changed it on the Normandy right after the initial cutscene, so I should be good then.

As long as you're locked in on Insanity before you get KO'd on Eden Prime you'll get the achievement when you kill Sovereign-Saren

Indeed.
