It's an RPG! I don't know from which end of the gaming spectrum you came from but in RPGs we need choices to develop our characters. If that development is gone and we cannot control Shepard then it's just not an RPG.

Idk if u noticed but about 70% of the retailers are calling this an ACTION/RPG

I THINK ACTION STANDS FOR "AUTO MUTHA FCUKIN DIALOGUE"

The series is founded on choices, sir. That's one of the things that make it so unique. Big and small, arguably the best thing ME had going for and what elevated it above Halo, Call of Duty, Gears of War, etc. was that everyone's play through was unique for them.

If that component is largely missing from ME3, then people have a right to be disappointed...

Wtf do u expect from sequals and trilogys . The entertainment world is exploding with money making opportunities , so why not take advantage even if it means dissapointing people here and there.

What does that even mean? That statement is so vague and generic that I don't even know how to respond to it.

I expect sequels and trilogies to of course improve in many areas, but also remain true to their original source material, while seeing to please both new fans and those who made the series what it is today. Obviously, if Bioware has indeed automated the large majority of conversations even in Narrative or RPG mode, then they are not being true to their original IP, and are ignoring the wishes of their original fans in an effort to bring in fans of pure third person shooters.

I played up to the Citadel part. So far I like the story but there is hardly anything in the way of interactive dialog or choices. All I can do is hope this changes later on, but right now it's like action sequences punctuated by movie scenes. I thought I had f*cked up and selected action mode or something.

I'm spending 80 dollars I really can't afford to spend (hello there maxed Amazon store card) on a game I've been anticipating for years and is shaping up to be extremely disappointing if the spoilers are all true. So no. Not melodramatic at all to say I wish I hadn't preordered.

I don't think auto-dialogue should be the deal-breaker. It'll still be an epic conclusion to an amazing story. Perhaps it isn't terribly melodramatic, but I'm just tired of people saying they're not buying the game over something tiny and insignificant (I'm talking about things said well before we had half the info we have now). I suppose that's their prerogative, but it just seems silly.

One thing in particular comes to mind. Back before it was even confirmed that we were getting a Prothean squaddie, people were threatening to cancel their pre-orders IF we got one at all. This was before the day one dlc debate. Just having a Prothean, whether it was free or not, was enough for some people to consider dropping their copies. Melodrama.

Dude, let me tell you, what you're doing. You're trying to convince others, that the game is good, just to convice yourself. It's subtle, maybe you don't even know, what you are doing. The human brain does alot of things subconscious.
It actually is killing you inside, because people don't like your favourite game and you fear, that you won't like it, too.

I'm at the exact same part and I agree, there was basically no RPG elements up until where we are in the game.

Hoping that changes now...

Not true at all. I bet if you had 100 games from 100 random people many of  the games would match up in a significant way. Most of the choices have no impact whether you were mean to Tali and got +2 ren or nice for +2 paragon is irrelevant in the scheme of things. Most choices boiled down to renegade chocie vs. paragon and only a few of these no more than 20-30 were tracked. So yes you're right if most of the results were meaningless or had no effect on the game whatsoever were actual choices making the game have millions of permutations. Logically it boils down to most paragon playthroughs will be eerily similar and ditto with renegade playthroughs. I could say a dozen random games and likely 2 would be highly similar.

Are people really complaining about the fact we don't have that retarded "3 choices, only 1 response" thing from ME1? Even ME2 was slightly guilty of this. All they did was remove the middle dialog part.

And really, a lot of the "automation" I saw made perfect sense. Everything that's automated is very alignment netural and doesn't break character.

No, it does break character. That's the point. No matter how you played me1/2 bioware forces the player into a set route for 3. Go watch the playthroughs of the entire game on YouTube. Have a look yourself.

Please guy, I'm more of hipster , the more people like it the more I refuse to play it, so I honestly couldn't care any less that u people hate it or buy it , but it's hilarious to watch I guys freak out about this Image IPB

Yeah, I am severely disappointed by that, but it's not as big a deal as some are making it out to be (the PRE-ORDER CANCELLED crowd comes to mind).

Reading all these posts... my heart is actually breaking.

The, "illusion" of player made dialogue doesn't matter. It's the point of making the choice that counts. Something being worded differently 3 times still makes an impact on how your character acts. I just... I can't believe I am reading this. I am so upset right now that BioWare chose to do this... I'm in shock...

Your heart is ACTUALLY BREAKING because of a change in dialogue options on a VIDEO GAME. I want you to stop and think about that for a minute.

I love you and your posts in this thread.

It obviously is to those people. Value is a subjective thing.
