do I still get romance/squad-mate dialogue or is that auto too? if it is I'll join the rage wagon--if not then I don't really care.

You get two choices of lines. Once they're said, auto dialogue kicks in. But this was one of the me2 romances, don't know how squadmate ones play out yet.

If it plays the Suicide Mission music during the auto-dialog I can handle it

The autodialogue is not a problem. I haven't even gotten off Mars and I've gotten well over a dozen options already.

I hate you all.

A whole dozen ? I think you got that before you got off Cerberus station in ME2.

Obviously you care about different parts of the game than I do. Such is your right. Me? I'm all about character and choice and yes, the illusion of choice. Taking it away means taking away the thing I love most about the game. The reason I've played the first two games so many times already, and why i anticipated this game so much. That is not tiny and insignificant. It's the ultimate deal breaker.

I personally care more about the core story itself than how many choices I get to make. When I said "tiny and insignificant", I was referring to people who complained two or three months ago when there was barely any info on the game. Hence my Prothy the Prothean example. I wasn't referring to you.

@Rockworm - Ive been repeating myself because somehow people seem to have missed the other 100 pages of the thread. Though I can't blame them for not reading it, so I just rephrase the same points. I'm not whining at all. In fact I'm about to go to sleep so tomorrow can come and I can play the game.

Obviously people got the message because this thread was dead before you posted.

Not me. I play to affect the outcome. Otherwise I'd play an action game.

Oh, then I have no big issues. Squad-mate discussions are the only dialogue I really care about. . .Image IPB reminds me of ME1. Can't wait until I get to play tomorrow.

I do to, to some extent, but I just enjoy being along for the ride. It's like reading a book. If it's a Choose-Your-Own Adventure book, all the better, but I just enjoy a good story.

I've been thinking about this and even if they insisted on using the auto dialogue, if it were at least based on your alignment, ie. one set of auto dialogue for renegade and another for paragon, it probably wouldn't have created the disconnect from the character people are complaining about. A bit late for that now though.

I'll be sorely disappointed if the dialogue choices are in fact limited as compared to the previous two games, but for now it's still "wait and see" for me. Not going to put my trust in random videos, and several posts claiming one thing is not enough when there is a similar number of posts claiming the opposite.

VariableEntity,

Wouldn't necessarily help. For example, you can play an almost pure paragon who consistently uses renegade options with just one character ever since that playthrough of ME where her romance was foisted on you despite your wishes resulting in your previous mild dislike and annoyance of the character turning into a seething hatred that persisted even into the sequels...

... and since you're a paragon you'd still get "OMG Liara's in there!" and "Hey Liara! Remember all the fun times we had aboard the Normandy?" type responses in auto-dialogue.

You know, as a totally random example.

Actually the auto dialogue does change based on paragon and renegade scores. For example in the demo, if you're paragon you tell the krogan female that you'd like to get to know her. If your renegade you tell her earths survival depends on the alliance between the krogans through her. So it changes based on alignment. Something at least.

Are we counting now? You probably had that same amount in ME1 before even landing on Eden Prime.

Stop it.

ME1 pre Title Drop 0

ME2 pre Title Drop 3

ME3 pre Title Drop I had 6

I still hate all of you. This is just the most irrational complaining I've ever heard and I came from the Bungie.net forums:sick:

So my Shepard, who is not "humans first" and actually quite diplomatic with alien races but has a bigger renegade score than paragon would act out of character?

That is exactly the problem.
A two sides system can never portray personality. Roleplaying rated PG-5.

This is NOT that bad. Sure, it has less than ME and ME2, but this is a different game. There are still enough dialogue choices available. Overall i'm satisfied with what i've played so far.

Anyone who plays 100% either way likely won't notice too much difference. Mine is 80/20 so being locked into being a Paragon all the time makes that personalty invalid.

This was kept very hush hush, which is why people are reacting badly to it.

Told you.

There have been a few scenes already where I wondered why I wasn't choosing what I was saying as a conversation wore on, but it's not terrible.

The Jessica Chobot cameo is... uh... interesting. They couldn't have at least given her an actual shirt?

You don't need to play something to voice a valid (but opinionated) argument.

Hmm. Maybe by playing it I will have a different perspective of it. We'll see tomorrow. At least I'll enjoy the multiplayer though if not the single player. I was a fan of gears 3 horde mode, but not a fan of the clunky feel of their combat. The ME skim just makes it better, plus the customization.

Lets plays are fun to watch but they are not a substitute for playing the game yourself.
