now that we know the truth can we stop complaining about it? its not like its getting us anywhere

And not saying anything and letting Bioware think this is what fans want is better?

Yes, because they're really going to pay attention to what you think. If I were Bioware, I would've stopped listening to the BSN a long time ago.

If they listened to BSN after ME2 than wouldn't be in this situation. Bioware hasen't listened since  EA bought their soul.

Dreman, to be perfectly blunt, I think you're out of your mind if you think you had "Mounts," of dialogue on the Citadel. Take the reunion with the council for one, I had ONE option in that entire scene, and my reunion with Udina was the same. Had this been ME1 or ME2, those scenes alone would have had easily three choices, with a some exposition dialogue to round things out. There wasn't, and several times my Shepard just started shooting off at the mouth saying things I wouldn't have.

Like agreeing with Udina for one, being frosty to the Turian Councilor and STILL so Earth-Centric even after all I kust went through, as some others. Bailey was the only person I could actually TALK to, and even then only after I could track him down.

Unlike with Diane, who I let on my ship after only having like, two dialogue options with, and NONE of them allowing me to really get a feel for her; a totally unknown person to Shepard, and I'm letting her run around the Normandy during a WAR without knowing more than "Oh, I'm a war reporter with Battle Space!." Please...

Man, stuff like this scares me.  I'm waiting till Thursday to pick up the game cause I have a 4 day weekend and I was going to get some serious time in.  Agreeing with Udina?  Really?  My Shep would knock him on his ass if he ever got the chance to.  I've been nothing but a jerk to him throughout all my playthroughs and certainly with my canon Shep.

Worse is it sounds like my Earth/Human-centric fears may be coming true.  Either way I'm getting the game but between this, the lack of variety in the endings, I'm fearing where BW is going in the future.  If I want to play a cinematic game I'll play Uncharted.  I like some RP in my RPGs.

Ok so I have the prima guide and I was reading some stuff about character development.

From Official Guide:

REPUTATION (Pg. 3, Single Player Campaign)
"One of Mass Effect's 3 most important systems is the Reputation system. As you complete missions, help others, or explore the galaxy, your reputation on the galactic stage will grow. This will unlock new dialogue options in key conversations, giving you better solutions to some otherwise-difficult moments.

[Last paragraph]
"When you gain reputation, regardless of whether it is Paragon, Renegade, or unflavored, it increases your overall Reputation score to unlock new dialogue options."

IMPORTING SAVES (Pg. 46, The Squad)
"Players who have a long standing history with the Mass Effect franchise can import a save game from Mass Effect 1 or Mass Effect 2. Doing so will import the various moral decisions you've made across previous Mass Effect games. Additionaly, you will also import whatever characteristics you previously had for Commander Shepard."

[Section continues to talk about pre-set builds with important choices you can use from Mass Effect 1 or 2 to use in the third installment.]

Thoughts?
So I noticed the reputation points and I was wondering how it worked. If it opens new conversations, which is great and all, this feature won't be useful until the half-way or end of the game. It doesn't explain how many points you need etc....but something to think about I guess.

Also the stuff about importing characteristics of Shepard from the previous games, wasn't something like this done in DA2? Where depending on the choices you picked in the wheel when you weren't in control of Hawke, they will carry the same consistent tone throughout. However, you have to admit DA2 did a much better job than what I'm seeing so far in ME3.

I don't know I'm very conflicted about the dialogue options but I thought I'd share this info from the guide, maybe you already knew, who knows~

I'm sorry to everyone who can't enjoy this because of it....
But I just don't see it being an issue for me.
I never grew up with your Baldur's Gate or Planescape Torment.
I grew up on platformers like Mario and Megaman.
I'm used to the only choice I have is what level to tackle next. And that was usually guessing until you know which one should be next.
Most of my favorite games (Batman Arkham Asylum/City, Uncharted ect) have a pre-established character where I have NO say in the dialog.
That doesn't make it better for Bioware to diminish what the other games were about so I'm not going to insult your intelligence by saying that you should be ok with it just because other games do it.
If they had this dialog wheel in Arkham Asylum and then threw it out for City it would be just as wrong.
I just want to throw in the other side of the coin in that I never felt this ownership that you guys had with your sheps. Sure I can pick different dialogs for them but they were still pre-determined dialog. My point is that so long as the character you play as has a voice roleplaying was always diminished from the start.
I brought up Deus Ex Human Revolution in a previous post for a reason. That game had a pre-determined character that you had no control over how he looked how he sounded it was a he no matter what you wanted.
I felt more roleplaying with Adam Jensen than I did the entire series of Mass Effect.
Because the Dialog choices actually felt like choices.
There was no Paragon/Renegade to chose from.... And to be honest I did the interupts in 2 almost every time not because my shepard would do that but because I cant help not click the button when it showed up.
TL:DR? I never felt all that roleplayingness when I play Mass Effect.

The game itself is solid: Its gorgeous, its levels are varied in design and well crafted, voice acting as always is wonderfully done, (The scene with Vega instantly after leaving Earth was well done.) its combat is tight and responsive, power/weapon/armor customization is more personal and gratifying than in either ME1 or ME2, cutscene and combat ration is well balanced and neither one feels like its more important than the other, and its characters are well developed and are, for the most part, given a chance to `be known. The intro is by far the worst part of the game I've played so far, then again, I feel like it was the worst gane intro of the last five years.

The amount of auto-dialogue is truly the biggest problem I have with ME3; due mostly to the fact that it smacks every line I ever controlled in the first two games in the face. Hard. With a brick.

Mass Effect 3 is so far, a great game, but its not Mass Effect. I can never really enjoy myself because I know as soon as I open my mouth, my words will be stolen from it.

Eh I don't mind it. I think there is enough decision based dialogue in the game. The rest of the auto-dialogue keeps the game moving at a good pace.

Now that the game is out and people can play it and form their own opinions, this thread is closed.

You are welcome to continue discussing it in the Storyline and Campaign discussion forum.
