That sounds good in theory but the reality is that the game has to flow smoothly in Action mode since that is the lowest common denominator for game settings. It's only logical to assume other elements suffered in an effort to pace the game for that particular mode.

Why exactly are we surprised at the amount of auto-dialog again? We all saw it coming, those who didn't have their hands over their eyes anyways.

You mean ME2? Completely different handling of the situation; I'll post this again:

All right, time for some facts in here. I
just took notes throughout the entire ME2 intro (Normandy + Lazarus
Project sections noted separately and together, depending on your
definition of "intro") and the ME3 intro alike. This is it;

ME2 Normandy Auto Dialogue Lines: 2
ME2 Normandy RPG Dialogue Lines: 3
Percentage of auto dialogue: 40%

ME2 Lazarus Project Auto Dialogue Lines: 3
ME2 Lazarus Project RPG Dialogue Lines: 13
Percentage of auto dialogue: 18% at most*
*"At most" since the -numerous- left side wheel options and/or the shuttle scene was omitted

ME2 Full Intro Auto Dialogue Lines: 5
ME2 Full Intro RPG Dialogue Lines: 16
ME2 Full Intro Auto Dialogue percentage: 23% at most

ME3 Earth Auto Dialogue Lines: 32
ME3 Earth RPG Dialogue Lines: 5
Percentage of auto dialogue: 86%

As
you can see, this is skewed in ME3's favour in that I didn't count the
ME2 shuttle scene, nor did I give any bonuses for all the left wheel
side options, investigate options, nor did I give any subtractions for
ME3's lack of a single choice with more than two options on the wheel.
And even then, the numbers speak for themselves.

See? Auto-Dialogue can be appropriate in certain situations, but ME3 took it way to far.

Look from what i understand, theres absolutely no cutting and dumbing down.If you watched the interview with Casey Hudson, the different modes are basically flipping switches from the options menu.In case of action mode, there no prompts for dialog, in story mode difficulty is set ot casual. Thats pretty much it, its the same game, just acomodating to more playstyle, witch is honestly very good from a purely objective perspective. Even though i couldnt care less/

Now before you try to jump down my though and rebuff the above statement, id like proof they actually did cut lines, dialog, promts, whtever......

The man explaned and i made perfect sense. All they added was just more options, to the diff setting,,,,

Sorry for Spelling...

Yes, that's what he "Said," but feel free to look at the trailers, demos, reviews, player reaction, stating the contrary. I played "RPG Mode," and with "Full Dialogue Options," and recieved nothing except the ability to level my characters. Something I've been doing for over ten years.

Ultimately it makes NO Difference at this point. The games practically out. And while i wont get to play it for another to weeks, im sure its too late to make a difference with this thread. People should have been b*****ing more after ME2 came out, instead they apploadedit. Personally im not one for b****ing, but in the case of Bioware games, it does help, as the "Majoraty rules" abd Bioware obviosly listens.

They really did deapen the RPG elements in 3, as a result of complaints....., but since most of what they heard was phrase, the game remain mostly a shooter. Deal with it, as I do....:crying:

I agree. Little snippets of auto dialogue are fine. I thought that ME2 had a great handle on this. There was just enough auo dialogue. In ME2 I never felt like I wasn't in control of Shepard.

No its not.... ME has always functioned quite smothly for line to line.... Heck even in 1, you could choose your next line, before the NPC was done speaking, to where dialog flowed seemlessly . Pretty much like a movie. Infact going form DAO to ME1, the distinction is quite striking....

All they do is remove the promts, not even all of them, as Interrupts and Major decisions are still mandatory...

Basically, game skips dialog promt and takes you though a set of predetermened canon choices/ lines.

In theory i see no problem, unless you have proff Bioware was lazy, or you have played the game.... I see no way you could have for any sizable amount of time.

I mean..but why would they do that though? Someone from Bioware design/storyboard team HAD to know that the dialogue with squad members, etc....., no matter how small it was, was one of the many things that made ME appealing.

I mean, these are smart people. They have to know that right? I'm sure someone thought that maybe this is not a good idea.

Doesn't make sense...

My newness to this forum has shown me that people here tend to take a negative view of things, but man...I hope I'm not disappointed by this game. But that launch trailer really got me excited. I still take a "wait and see" approach....

i hate auto dialog at 86%... thats just ridiculous and if someone comes and justify that go away and play your COD or Gears of Wurs and any other TPS streamlined without choices oriented.

Way to far yes, but I actually meant the promotional material, the demo, ect. for ME3 made it quite clear there would be a lot of auto-dialog.

Lots of people kept telling themselves "it's a demo and doesn't represent the final product.", forgetting that the demo is not a beta and is indeed suppose to represent the final product with a few more bugs.

In other words the writting was on the wall the whole time imo.

From our point of view- Sure.... Makes no sence. But there are zillions of them out there. And i never try to presume or understand, why other pley and enjoy smt. They simply do.

And Biowares catering to all of them/ and us.

At the end, there will never be : The Mako, planet exploration, Stat-mandated shooting mechanics, planetary exploration, e3 2006 galaxy map, real time switching between companions and so on and so forth.

Just accept it and make a decision.

Well ,depending what build the demo was. Still all of this is irrelevant. Its thier baby, not ours. And id still play it  ,even if it was a shooter..:(

They probably had to remove some of the dialogue options, in order to save 2 or 4 mb of memory, which is a considerable amount.

What else could it be?

someone should stalk casey hudson on real life and not let him be until he realizes what he has done to the real ME fans with the choices and changes they have made during ME 2 to ME 3 .. since they always claim that " we take and hear commentaries from our fans, their opinions are valuable" well we will see about that!

agreed but its hard to say that your correct only by the dialog situation when alot of things has been changed to worst. in that matter i guess its better to wait and see how is truely ME 3 gameplay if thats where you going.
