Awful lot of auto dialogue in the full game...

That's a little hyperbolic. There's dialogue selection, but cutscenes are longer and Shepard says a lot on his own so it seems more from that perspective. It feels even worse because the auto dialogue seems to be where there's a lot of back and forth between characters.

Agh... I don't understand this design decision at all. Why change something that worked and was fun. If it is as bad as it looks, Mass Effect 3 will be nothing more than the random sci-fi shooter that comes out 5 times per year

has any livestream covered a squad convo yet? that is the area where i am most concerned about having agency to determine what shep says and how he says it.
That's less affected, but there's auto dialogue there as well.

I can understand them going for a wider audience and looking for bigger profits I just wish they hadn't done it on the third installment of a great series where people have already invested time into the story. Save it for the next series of games.

I find this amusing and ironic for several reasons. Cos Sarah Jinstar is, as I remember it, the one who seems to have first come up with the BDF term. I certainly don't recall seeing anyone use it prior to her at any rate. She would attack and insult people constantly, resorting to accusing of them of being members of the BDF whenever she didn't have much of an argument left and wanted to marginalize anyone who said anything that ran counter to her position - even if they were being perfectly reasonable or just offering their own opinion about a topic.PoliteAssasin wrote...

Tsk, tsk. The moral catharsis that you seem to apply only to people who agree with you, certainly doesn't seem to wash down the terms "turd" from our memory.PoliteAssasin wrote...
If there was any inflammatory discussion in my thread It certainly wasn't because of me or people who agreed with me, that's the trademark of the BDF to attack and insult people. But nice try though.

The dichotomy of course, extends to you calling "****s" though who disagreed with you (and apparently were correct), but I'll let mods do the judging. Though it may be a bit too late for that.
Hm.. Not quite. ****s and BDF has been around for some time now, but I personally define it as people who blindly defend something that is factually incorrect. Sort of like what you guys did in my thread, or any topic that raises plausible concerns about the game. In your point of view Bioware can do no wrong. What you guys don't seem to understand is that critique helps to improve a piece of work. I'm not calling people who disagree with me ****s. There were several people in the thread who recognized the auto dialogue but expressed that they weren't bothered by it. That is their opinion and their right. It just so happens that the ****s disagree with factual information, not my opinion, regarding the game. Call it what you want though. I can't change your mind, and you definitely can't change mine.

That's why the part where you claim that members of the BDF are the ones who insult and attack others is so very amusing. Also, Jinstar repeatedly threw the BDF thing at me and once accused me of being blindly devoted to ME2 and BW because of my Miranda avatar in one particularly heated thread. Yes, that really was the sum total of her argument/rant against me...my avatar meant I was an apologist for BW and was blindly devoted to them. Ah, the ever reliable personal attacks. *snort*
At this point, I tend to be dismissive of anyone who resorts to using the term because of my exceedingly unpleasant interactions with Jinstar. If you all want to have some decent discourse, then instead of trying to marginalize the opposition with all the name-calling, stick to having civilized debates and/or stick to facts if you're trying to prove something.

Back on the normandy again. I agree with the person who posted before, whats the point of RPG mode if it's exactly like Action but with a few choices here and there?

Because it's what would drive in a larger audience.

This. I can't defend this. Seriously, why streamline the dialogues in RPG mode if there is Action mode?!N00blet666 wrote...

This may possibly be the only light of hope. From what I've seen, the two streams didn't play on imported Shep. I'm clinging to hope that imported Shep gets more dialogue options, but I know I'm probably deluding myself.jdunn1 wrote...

Who knows?

Same, I don't understand this decision.
One of the main ME1 selling point was the dialogue interaction and the facial expression.
In ME2 they tried to improve the interaction by adding the paragon/renegade actions during the dialogues.
And finally for ME3 they removed most of the dialogue options.
It's just weird.

"sometimes i think false hope is better than no hope at all"
i'll cling to that hope as long as i can. we know that you get to talk to the vs when you meet them if you import a shep, so...

It saves on lines of dialogue.
If they don't have to write 3 questions/statements/answers and several responses for every single point it saves them a large amount of time and money.
Its bad for fans and good for their bottom line.

I agree that this was the worse time to do it though, it's the last game of the shepard trilogy. People have created characters over the past two games that get disregarded in the third. Still gonna keep my CE, but there's no point playing more than once with linear dialogue.
