Why would Bioware COMPLETELY and UTTERLY forget the reason they did mass effect in the first place by ignoring what made it great...CHOICE!       Such as making our own decisions, and making the game your own!

WRONG

Its the universe, the characters, and the stories that made it great.

And hell, even with autodialogue most of the time, CHOICE matters more in the plot of ME3 than before.

you know what makes me even more upset about this, that they dont seem to care about our opinions and how we feel about their product that we end up Buying. at the same time this is our fault by buying their low base quality / changes towards the ME series, so partially we do have fault in this matter as well, we all in some way knew this kind of changes would occour after the EA union, perhaps not at this MASSIVE scale though i didnt expected it this bad..

No, the plot and story are always first, the dialogue options comes second.

For example, Ultima games have a very low impact dialogue system, its questions and answers only, no choices of any kind. But still the storytelling is excellent and genre defining. In fact early WRPGs were more linear.

Games like Fallout 3 and Skyrim have dialogue options, but their stories are awful. Choices were poorly done, the writing was terrible, etc.

And many of the best RPGs have autodialogue, like Tactics Ogre where while Denim mostly has his own dialogue, you make the major choices.

It really depends of the game.  Interactive dialogs along the moral choices were actually the key factors of Mass Effect games success.  Mass Effect 1 and 2 have never had any good, original quests (like for example, Vampire the Masquerade),  ME 2 had a very sour main story.  The main story of the first Mass Effect was much better but still not the best.

I guess we should have seen this coming with LOTSB and Arrival, even though lotsb was great, it lacked dialogue choices and arrival, well don't even get me started on that.

Yeah, but those were DLC. I mean, to a point, you assume that they have limited ressources for that kind of project. But for ME3, damn, you assume that they would at least try to put some choice in there.

I remember that when the demo was released there were a lot of people claiming that a Bioware official had stated that many of the dialogue options had been cut from the demo to save on memory. Can someone provide the actual source that contains this statement, assuming it exists? I'm wondering whether we've been deliberately decieved, or if people misunderstood.

I'm still shocked at this. Someone tell me this is all a bad dream. Please? I've waited for this game for so long! To see it like this is such a disappointment! The combat is the best it ever was, the soundtrack, the visuals, why remove dialogue control?

I don't think that Bioware said the demo had less choice because of size. They did say that the demo was not representative of the final game where you have many more choices.

It's going to be great when Bioware is going to come out with this:" Due to overwhelming majority of players using the Action mode, we have decided that make it the core feature of all our next games".

Basically, we are making third person shooters with stats now.

There is choice, your decisions in the plot matter.

Hell, Fable and Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together have very little/no dialogue options, but crush ME1 and ME2 when it comes to choice and consquence.

Its not like Bioware was any good at choice...really the old Bioware, only the endgame choice mattered.

I think it was a misinterpretation. The intro I saw was with a new Shepard. The missing dialogue I heard was merely from Anderson, changing the "s**t you pulled," line into something that details what you did a bit more.

While I'm saddened by this, I'm still keeping my CE. I won't play through this more than once though since there'd be no point with the linear dialogue.

The streams are down though.

It is certainly looking like a one play game atm, particularly given I played the first game 6 times and the second 3 times.

Imagine my disappointment, I played ME1 and 2,  20 times each.

-Polite

Huh Polite I know how you feel I quite keeping count of my entire ME1 playthroughs all side missions everything after I did it aroun 35 times and that was right before ME2 came out.

On ME2 I can't begin to tell ya how many playthroughs I have done, but I know I enjoyed the characters in ME2 far more than the ones in ME1 with Wrex being the sole exception from ME1.
Samara, Thane, Jack, Mordin, Legion, we great interesting characters, and Ash was one of the most real humans in the game, and her new look ugh.. WTF?
Anyway the autodailogue is gonna really hurt this for me, it puts too much distence between me and the game, I don't like it.
I know I've probally got at least 60 playthroughs of both ME1 and 2, and countless hours invested in the game and my characters in it.

Because of the Action mode, the RPG fans have paid the price.

We have less options because they needed to dumb it down so it would be easier to make a gametype with less variables to autopick.

It's downright insulting. It's a gargantuan middle-finger to everything Mass Effect used to be and the fans that Bioware gathered during the first game. This used to be my favorite series. I followed it all the way through my high school years. I have some fond memories with Mass Effect, and now I see that they all led up to a freakin' gears of war clone with one-dimensional characters, no choices, and a disatisfying ending. It. Hurts.

That interview with Casey Hudson was even more insult to injury. Casey outright called the fans ignorant.
