I seriously doubt this "auto-dialog" will make up 50%-90% of conversations as some people claim.

It'll probably be the same as ME1/ME2 relax.

pay attention to the thread, it has been confirmed that the majority of the game is auto dialogue.  Heck we would all love for it to only make up 50% but it seems to be around 90%

Again, please stop misinforming people. Unless you've seen what we've seen, you're just posting your opinion. We've seen two different streams in RPG mode with "Full Decisions" and 90% + of the dialogue is automatic. On the battlefield, on the normandy, on hub worlds, it's 90% + automatic. One of the streams is still up so go and look for yourself. Stop acting as if we're making this up, when quite obviously we're not. The same information we're basing this off of is there for everyone to see. I'd be interested in seeing which percentage of the auto dialogue you'd suggest after watching the stream.

Think the official reviews will touch on this?

I'm afraid a lot of them won't be bothered.  They'll just accept Shepard as a pre-defined character and that he talks a lot on his own.

It's only truly terrible if you're a fan of the prior games with Shepard's whose personalities you're attached to.

So baiscly it's only a problem if you played and liked the other 2 game.

Why the hell was this a good idea?

You lose a couple thousand with the hopes of garnering tens of thousands?

I thought that was what Action mode was for.

Why gut RPG and Story mode?

i am confused can some one please explain the auto select speech? I played the demo in story mode and had 100% of my speeches be options I can pick.

Are we talking about Action and RPG modes, or what?

It's that you don't get a choice at all in what to say sometimes. Shepard will respond without input, similar to Lair of the Shadow Broker. There is still the tradional Mass Effect dialogue wheel, where you can make choices, investigate, etc in non-combat areas and story events. But there is also a lot more of Shepard saying things without your input, sometimes at important story events. This is RPG mode.

This is the answer we're still looking for.

Because Bioware are either completely oblivious, or they just don't give a crap anymore.

Just saw mrpikachuus vid....not liking that really...ESPECIALLY from being bombarded with dialogue in me2 after doing so many playthroughs past few weeks.

How is this even happening who made this decision? (forgive the irony:P)

I can only account for this by thinking action mode caused this...

Because the dirty secret has always been that you cannot have an action mode without gutting the RPG elements. If conversations and dialogue wheels were as involved as previous games, you could not convey the same information in action mode. The irony being that people who play action mode don't give a crap about any of that anyway. They just want pew pew, MP mode, and new maps. But in working to accommodate that group, they've screwed over the rest of us.

The portion after Palaven is the most uncomfortable. You meet a very important person and then a second very important person with almost no input from Shepard. The input he does have is meaningless stuff. It's very disconcerting.

You mean, no input form Shepard, or no input from the player. If former, there two separate problems.(gameplay/narrative)

PS: Why are you torturing yourself, watching this again? :?

There is no reason they couldn't have done it without destroying player agency. Just have action mode skip the investigate stuff and just pick the options that move the scene along, unforunately that requires effort which bioware clearly didn't want to exert.

So for the to try to get a few more sales on this one game they risk running off a percentage of players that have been with them for a few years? That makes no sense.

I'm going to reserve final jugment for when I am done playing the game but right now I'm not to thrilled with what I am hearing.

No input from the player. Shepard is running on Autopilot through this, and they're two characters that are vital to the story.

Mac Walters? Casey? ..The doctors? Who knows. They had statistics that said something like only 15% of players ever skipped dialogue in ME2 which is something they were studying carefully, and there is also 40k lines of dialogue in this game, compared to 20K for ME1 and 25K for ME2, so this new approach doesn't make a lot of sense, especially when you go to the effort of putting in three seperate modes and that much more dialogue. The footage I have seen wasn't that alarming or different than ME2, but I guess I haven't seen enough.
