I'll just go ahead and drop this grenade in here in case anyone is still thinking they were watching action mode.

My preorder still isn't cancelled tho :)

Hopefully this puts the whole discussion to rest. 40k of dialogue is supplemented by unassisted dialogue.

Checking the Demo, even if you select Action Mode you can change the options to Full Decisions.  I'm not sure if that is tantamont to changing the whole thing to RPG mode or not.

Either way, I'm not going to worry about it.  I get to play the game for myself in 4 days and make up my own mind.

I do, in fact, remember how many times there were only two options in BG.

Mass Effect 3: You rarely get two dialogue options. The majority is zero.

BG2: You rarely get two dialogue options. The majority is 5+

Not the same thing.

Right.

In the middle of a warzone it's very immersive if my shepard sits there and talks on philosophy and the meaning of life with Garrus; his most trusted but still mysterious best friend.

Now we will ask Garrus amoungst the debris and destruction his thought on my actions as Shepard and if he truely trusts me whilst innocent Turians die by the truckload.

Yes, very good writing and narrative.<_<

That would actually be brilliant.

HAAAA HAHAHAHAHAHAHA you can not be serious, that would be the most distracting un-immersive thing imaginable.  This is literally why I will never take BSN seriously.

I am serious.

I guess you just want shoot shoot shoot.

COD is that way ---->

You think immersion is going to come from Shepard and Garrus having a discussion about Shepard's past actions while reapers and various forms of husks are closing in around them?  You think that's good storytelling?  Maybe Garrus could bring it up but a full blown discussion would feel unbelievably out of place.
As for your second point at what point did I ever say anything about shooting in fact when did I say anything about gameplay at all?  Oh that's right I never did, here's an idea next time you write something down try to make sure that it has at least some relevance ok?

I DO THINK THAT'S GOOD STORY TELLING. AND THAT'S MY OPINION. YOU CANNOT SAY MY OPINION IS WRONG.

Hoo boy, what will you do now?

I have yet to see such a thing in ME3.

I'd probably roleplay as a Shepard who isn't chatting up a storm in the middle of a battlefield during a Reaper invasion, anyway.

Talking can be done aboard the ship instead, where there's safer and more intel can be gained and used. That's why we have a war room. So we can do the important talking there and less talking on the ground.

Edit: Hell, we even have a conference room on the Normandy for that.

What did you expect? Typing all the answers by yourself? Greeeting Garrus with a "aww, you're alive? damnit"

Come on.

He can in fact say that your opinion is invalid, because valid means well-founded. You could start by explaining why you think that.

Come on.

Facade did this. Psychological complexes concerning watermelons were revealed.

And text adventures. Sort of, but not really.

Thanks to sources, it's true that Ashley becomes Zaeed after 1 FemShep convo. The same is likely true for MaleShep that isn't interested.

Great. I'll add this to my list of things I don't like :x

REGARDLESS, I will still love this game. I'm just showing that I can calmly show distaste and excitement at the same time.

It's not about the amount of talking.  It's about talking without any player input.  I'd be far happier if Shepard had remained utterly mute.

It does no good for her to be chatting up a storm on the Normandy if she's acting out of character on all of the missions.

Not gonna lie. If this is representative of the full game, then it's just nonsense to me why would they improve RPG aspects in gameplay areas like combat, character customization etc, just to streamline the dialogue options. It's like one step forward, one step back.

But I reserve the judgement till I play the final game.

I did mention that overt swearing and "why the duck not" are considered grounds for invalidation, did I not? ^_^

There is no such thing as valid and invalid opinion. There is only opinion.

In a hypothetical situation, I could have the opinion that you smell really really bad. Okay, that's my opinion. It's a bit mean, you probably don't smell bad to other people, but in my opinion, you smell bad. It's not valid, neither is yours or other people's opinion valid. But there is no invalidation either in both opinions.

Dialogue with characters was the best part of ME2, plot was ****e, really. I loved that game because of my convos with my squadmates.

If squaddies other than Ashley get the Zaeed treatment, I will be sad. :crying:

It's not particularly logical to make a point which doesn't address the issue being discussed in this thread.  This thread has never been about the quantity of dialogue, but about player control over it.
