That one citadel video showed plenty of dialogue options.

As I said in the other thread, when Shep says something without you having any control over what it is.  I.e., a lack of dialogue wheels.

If there is auto-dialogue during missions, that to me would come across as natural... sh!t needs to get done before you chat in the middle of a huge fight.

I'm willing to bet the Normandy is still the place to be for your real dialogue opportunities.

You're going to be disappointed.

It's kind of half-and-half aboard the Normandy. There are still a respectable number of major conversations for (almost...) every squadmate, but when there are no new updates there's some auto-chatter at work. It's kind of like what happened with the alien squadmates sometimes in ME1, except instead of just them talking Shepard also takes part, but his/her reactions are based upon alignment.

I can live with that.  There wasn't a whole lot of dialogue on the Normandy in ME2 either once you went through a tree or two.  IE Garrus!  And then after the SM it was pretty much full on repeat.

Nope. Squad conversations and conversations on the normandy with Joker, Edi, Chakwas, plot figures, etc.. are all auto with few, and I mean few, choices.

wow. Modern Warfare/Battlefield? I've heard people call ME3 a Gears of War wannabe, but that is just silly lol

Either way I cant wait for the game to come out so that I can buy it (because I'm actually a fan of the SERIES as a whole) and THEN judge it for myself.

Considering they said they wanted CoD's crowd, yeah it's not that far out an idea. Additionally, they have one of CoD's favorite features: Slow motion dramatic shooting for bosses. Won't say who, but it's in the stream if you guys want to take a look. Sure the CoD kids will feel right at home with that. :P

Are you counting investigate? Cause that doesn't count. The 3 hour stream that's up would like to have a word with the citadel video.

To me the dialog style in ME1 was the best. Being able to interact with the various caracters is part of what makes it an rpg. The more interaction the better

What a terrible system. So now because my (If i can still call him that) Shepard makes pragmatic choices, he is going to sound like an ass to everyone. Who comes up with this crap?

In terms of plot progression, I think that BW had to limit dialogue choice. Sort of like how Arrival played out.

I'm not worried at all. It prolly isn't that bad.

And Arrival is considered to be one of the weakest parts of the whole ME2

Yet Lair of the Shadow Broker has an entire conversation between Shepard and Liara which really doesn't have choice - just paragon interrupts - and there's also a crap load of automatic dialogue besides that.  And its largely considered superior to the core game.

Perhaps dialogue only lacks while you're in the middle of action in a mission. If you're in a casual place to relax like the Normandy or Citadel, you get some good dialogue options out of it.

I can't comment on whether or not that's the case outright because I haven't experienced it for myself, but judging by what's been said to me through reliable sources? Probably so during those automated sequences.

On a serious note though..I am pretty disappointed by this. I'm still going to get my CE copy and judge for myself but I'm pretty ticked already about a number of things.

That's still rather limited comapred to ME1 and most of ME2

I love how people think PoliteAssassin, myself and others are trolling. We all saw hours last night and dialogue shoehorns you into being a tailored character and less of your character you spent two games building.

But to what end would BioWare choose to sabotage such a tried, tested and successful mechanic? The reason I find it literally impossible to believe is because this is a mechanic everyone likes, is familiar with, and, quite frankly it works really well.

Why would BioWare decide to butcher such a mechanic? To what end? There's no sense in it. In ACTION MODE I can see this being the case because they are catering to the COD crowd and making it more explosions, less emotion, but why would they make RPG  MODE the same and remove the choice option during dialogue?

If you can tell me WHY they would choose to do such a stupid thing, like for what reason, then I will believe you. And don't say "Its because they want to streamline the game for new consumers/COD crowd ETC ETC" that is the reason ACTION MODE exists.

I'm on-the-fence about it right now. Waiting to see for myself firsthand. But if you find that you despise it, be sure to let the developers know afterward. Contrary to popular belief, BioWare can be pretty good about listening to fan feedback.

You can find it impossible to believe until the cows come home, then, or more accurately: until you see it yourself.

With all this autodialogue Shepard is not going to be MY Shepard anymore he's gonna end up being some Marcus Fenix or Master Chief, I'm hoping things aren't as messed up as them seem to be.

But I got an idea it's gonna be worse than it looks, I think that ME2 will be the last true ME game in every sense of what ME was and was built around.

ME3 will loose everything that made the series great for me.

Sorry but as we've said that's not the case. When your talking to important individuals on the normandy, including your squad mates, it's all automatic with a few choices here and there to be hopeful or angry at the reapers. That's literally the only choices we get now, to say if we're hopeful for the future, or angered at the reapers.

http://www.twitch.tv...tuk/b/310594419

Here's a portion of the UK stream. Start at the 25:00 minute marker and watch. Now imagine that for every conversation - That's how it is. And some conversations don't have that 1 choice at all. I would link to the others, but the France stream doesn't have the vids archived. Spoilers though, beware. The part I'm linking picks up shortly after the GS video stops.

Even if this is the case, there are still 1000s of more lines in ME3 than ME2 and ME1.

Honestly if this ends up being true then I would guess it was becuase they thought they could get away with it. The same reason that DA2 had such big problems and still sold well(mostly on preorders). They have most of us hooked after 2 games and they know we are going to buy this one anyway so they didn't have to try as hard.

After playing through Mass Effect 2 for the final time untill 3 comes out I have to say there is a lot more Auto Dialogue than I thought there was. But based off the demo this just too much Auto Dialogue in 3. If the Player gets barley any input, and Shepard just makes most of the Dialogue options(Based off of you Pragon/Renegade scoreImage IPB) something is just wrong.
Mass Effect 2 had a great system why would you get away from that? That was my favortie part of the game and I'm sure I am not alone in this.
