mgs 4 all over again ? ala mass effect style
Some say the greatest game ever made.
I say it was pretentious nonsensical crap.

Isn't ME3 supposed to have like nearly as much voice recording as the first two games combined? If so, then where is all of this dialogue going if we're losing out on as many dialogue options as people are saying? That just doesn't stack up.

Auto or otherwise?
Meant to say auto. It's definitely noticeable.

Once you invest in the story

So long as the bigger decisions aren't wrestled from our control, I don't think the trimming down of dialogue choices is necessarily a bad thing. I felt bogged down at times especially in ME2 with the amount of dialogue options available. I didn't want to miss out on important plot points and useful information, but often I just wanted to get on with it.
With this being the climax of the trilogy, maybe this is a design decision they went with to keep up the momentum of the story?

Im playing the game right now. The amount of auto-dialogue is rampant. Seriously; There is so much auto dialogue you probably wont lose that much if you go straight for action mode, thats no exaggeration. (im 1:30 hours in)
Already now there are several conversations that have been on full auto without my Shepard having anything to ask etc. These forums are going to explode.

after the long hype mgs4 had alot of those that praised it realized they were wrong on their perception and view of the game later... how typical is that? the point is as you said its nonsensical crap.
ME 1 >>>>>>>>>> ME 2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ME 3 in terms of interactivity.
I think it's a combination of 2 things. Kinect + alternate dialogues in non-import game. In both cases, the goal to get new/casual players most likely resulted in having to reduce number of dialogue options.......Matt VT Schlo wrote...
WTH, did choice take up too much memory too?

More character interaction for one.
The squad isn't as silent as the previous two games.

sure, but still if you take out the majority of the investigate options and all of that, I'm surprised we're left with a similar amount of voice over as the first two games combined. That's a big chunk missing.

Storytelling? No. Autodialogue and player input have nothing to do with storytelling. This isn't about the autodialogue ruining the storytelling. That would make no sense. Excessive autodialogue ruins the experience, in contrast to the ability of the player to choose Shepard's responses. It would be like Half-Life embracing cut-scenes to tell the story of Gordon Freedom, something which goes completely against the style of narrative.

Ok....what I don't understand is if
there's so much autodialogue, why hasn't IGN's live review made note of
it or any of the other previews/reviews so far?
I mean, the guy
that handled IGN's live review seemed to be a serious fan of the series,
so you'd think something like having conversation options taken away
and Shepard put on autopilot would be something he'd have jumped
on.

We know, but even more clarification just makes it worse.
