I agree with you on the swtor part Fentz1, but Arkk is right, most of the auto dialogue is general stuff like investigation, general conversation progression, etc.. It's not really character defining, they give you the choice for character definition from what I've seen.

This is totally bogus. I'm convinced because it is because the inclusion of Action mode. Why create branching dialog paths when action mode makes everything so cinematic and appealing?

I can deal with this, but slightly annoyed is slightly annoyed.

Quick! We must gather the entire Masslim community, Talimancers and Tali-ban alike, and create our own open source version of what Mass Effect 3 should have been.

What Mass Effect 3 should have been is a game just like the previous 2. You know, the same games that attracted us to begin with. Why make such a stupid change in the final game? It makes no sense.

When I just "wait and see" and buy the game, they already have my money... so why listen to what I have to say? I have paid my 60€ and I am no longer a concern... It's not like it actually matters if they p**s me off, there will be enough "Go-By" Consumers that will buy the game nonetheless if it has a blinking standin in a shop...
With a potential deal breaker like this it is better to know BEFORE if it might be wasted money in the end...

So... you think if you complain about it today, based on your opinion of a game that you haven't yet played, they'll change it in time for release tomorrow, giving you the necessary window to let your pre-order remain or be cancelled? Really? Image IPB Okay, I'll solve your problem for you. Nothing is going to change between now and when the game is officially release tomorrow. If that's a deal-breaker for you, then cancel. If not, then buy the game, play it, then come back and give your feedback which may or may not be incorporated in the design process for DLC and/or future ME titles.

Another comment from Neogaf. Looks like the first 15 hours are weak on dialogue and choice. It opens up after that.

Alright I'm about 14 hours in and I can confirm that the dialogue does get better. Through the first few hours I was getting a little worried. The introduction is not too good, it feels rushed with bad dialogue, and the next two missions don't get much

better. They only give you two dialogue options in situations where you should have more. I felt the first 4 hours just kinda seemed like a micheal bay movie and I was getting a little worried that Mass Effect 3 was gonna end up like gears of war. But

DO NOT PANIC the dialogue does in fact get much better particularly after you start to recruit crew members. After the first initial missions and after you get to explore the Citadel and start some side missions the game starts to feel like good ole Mass

Effect again. The weapon customization and upgrade system is awesome, feels alot like ME1. I think they did a good job again at polishing the combat and cover system, and the skill point system is definitely better than ME2, but still not amazing.

Most of the technical things they changed/added I really cannot complain about. Overall I think they did a great job at combining the good parts of ME1 and ME2. You have to take the game for what it is, and its really good. It may not be your

typical in-depth, spreadsheet type RPG, but so far I am liking this better than ME2 and am really enjoying it. It is definitely a quality game you just have to let go of your strict definitions of Shooter and RPG and just enjoy the last episode of a trilogy that the gaming community won't soon forget.

That's about what I expected. Both Mass Effect 1 and 2 are very linear in the beginning.

The game is around 12-15 hours if you just do the main "quest". Add another 10-15 if you complete the sidequests.

If one playthrough is 30-40  hours that would mean that half of the game is weak in dialogue and choice options.

Played a few hours now and I have no problems with the dialogue, though the neutral one is constant missing so far. But on citadel and normandy there were plenty of investigate options often up to 5. For me it feels the same way as always, but you have to experience yourself for your opinion...

Image IPB Image IPB I thought the same thing, but I was also pleasantly surprised to read that Neogaf quote. I hope it's true. I haven't watched any of the streams past Mars. I'll hold on to my pessimism for now, just to be safe, but, if accurate, I'll be delightfully relieved and happy to have been wrong. Image IPB

Except I think you're misreading it.

The poster isn't saying it's just gotten better 14 hours in. He's saying he's played for 14 hours and the first 4 or so were potentially limited/poor in terms of dialogue.

I'd be ok with that if it really does tune down the autodialogue after Mars to the point it's more like ME1/2 in dialogue choice.

You miss-read, I believe. He stated that the game gets better once you're at the Citadel and start really exploring, meaning the mission after Mars, or the one following the first trip to the Citadel.

So, it would only be around an hour and a half to three hours in, I believe, depending on when the user specifically meant.

Edit: Actually, re-reading the quote, it seems he/she thought it took around 4 hours to get better, before the 'Michael Bayness' began to wear off, which is when it started to feel more like Mass Effect again.

You might be joking, but I'd seriously do this. I have 7 years experience with the engine and am an environment/character modeler. The only thing really stopping something like this is the voice acting. I'm a bit optimistic for the game though from some of the other videos I've seen, but that's me, and it could be isolated incidents. I'll find out tomorrow.

I'd help, but I have no technical skills apart from trolling. I have to wait till Thursday to receive it from Best Buy, but then I'll be at university all day and then some time with the girlfriend.:crying:
