I agree with you on the swtor part Fentz1, but Arkk is right, most of the auto dialogue is general stuff like investigation, general conversation progression, etc.. It's not really character defining, they give you the choice for character definition from what I've seen.

Hey, Polite, you've been one of the major, dare I say, doomongers, yet you sound remarkably more chipper today.  This gives me hope.  What's changed?

And who was being such a negative bastard yesterday:P

Drastic changes like that don't make any sense.

Image IPB Image IPB I thought the same thing, but I was also pleasantly surprised to read that Neogaf quote. I hope it's true. I haven't watched any of the streams past Mars. I'll hold on to my pessimism for now, just to be safe, but, if accurate, I'll be delightfully relieved and happy to have been wrong. Image IPB

BSN

complaining about anything and everything since BG. B)

Theres a thin line between love and hate, the more passionate people are about something the more they get wound up. So there's a positive side to it.

Glad to hear it.

Shows what a great universe Bioware has crafted. :wizard:

Another comment from Neogaf. Looks like the first 15 hours are weak on dialogue and choice. It opens up after that.
...

If one playthrough is 30-40  hours that would mean that half of the game is weak in dialogue and choice options.

You miss-read, I believe. He stated that the game gets better once you're at the Citadel and start really exploring, meaning the mission after Mars, or the one following the first trip to the Citadel.

So, it would only be around an hour and a half to three hours in, I believe, depending on when the user specifically meant.

Edit: Actually, re-reading the quote, it seems he/she thought it took around 4 hours to get better, before the 'Michael Bayness' began to wear off, which is when it started to feel more like Mass Effect again.

Yeah, the people who really has played already the game is fairly positive about it and said that dialogue isn't so bad. And it can't be that all are '****s'. So for now I will keep the faith even if the first missions are very light on the dialogue choices. Very different feel compared with DA2 when the first user comments were fairly mixed/ negative. Ok guys, there was a beacon... And some kind of vision... And then this sudden strong urge for fried chicken..

No seriously though, I've been saying since yesterday that I've seen a few more videos and it seems the dialogue does indeed open up after the initial portions of the game. I'm not entirely sold, but I'm much more optimistic. The Gaf quote just makes things better.

Yes, this is very reassuring. Outside of the fairly linear first hours of the game and possibly the ending, this looks like its shaping up to be a fine game.

I'm glad to hear that.  I am really looking forward to a lot of conversations.  I'm ok with a lot of them being auto.  This is the final game of the series.  I really want them to turn it up story-wise.  So, this is great news for me!

Hahahahahaha.

God, I hate this generation.

Btw, just so you know and sorry to provide possibly conflicting information, but I'm reading through a GAF thread now:

Apparently, others are saying about being 2 hours in and wondering about when the auto-dialog is minimised, only to be told that others have said it starts getting good around the around the 15 hour range.

Thread page link

Heads about to explode? ;) Sorry, I shouldn't joke, I know. It's not funny.

Edit: The quote that was given earlier comes after those figures posted, on page 96.

15 hours for good dialogue? That's like the beginning of the last act if you go directly through the campaign.

That's certainly the best thing to do. Even if there's a chance you'll buy something you don't like.

To be quite honest, I often find it quite hard sorting the correct information out from the dishonest information on the web. Then subjectivity enters the equation too, rather than facts being presented wrongly to prove a point.

Yes, but another source on page 96, the one that was quoted earlier, says it takes 4 hours.

So, the information out there is contradicting. People are best playing the game themselves or viewing a stream for a good amount of time, then making their minds up. You can't really lie in a stream/lets play, though if the person skips side-content, you probably wouldn't get a true representation of the game.

Edit: There is really too much misinformation online at pretty much any game's release, much less this one's release to believe everything read.

If that's the case, its clearly conflicting since people in that same thread are saying they're ten hours in and it flows the same as the beginning.

no, if it's the post i read, the guy said that he has been PLAYING for 14 hours, but that the game became much more like the first two after the first 4 or 5 hours.

From that thread

This is about the way it goes. After 10 ours it wasn't any better but supposedly around 15 it gets good.

But this is sort of what I was saying before.

Yeah, apparently, it's the opening of the game that's heavily simplified, then (when you're able to explore the Normandy, CItadel, the conversations with Kirhaee on Sur'Kesh etc) it's back to good amount of options
