I own the game - I have the recipes here in my wallet due to pick up at mid-night, just as I own ME1 and ME2 and I am shut out of the forums. At the rest of being banned that has made no difference at all. Most in the UK and the EU on the forums have paid for their games and they have been cut off for two MORE weeks or so. That doesn't make any sense. The fact is I want BW to succeed beyond their wildest dreams - its necessary for BW to do then every other games developer would be held to this standard thereby vestly improving the entire industry. Which puts me at a loss , in fact this makes me feel all the rumors out there are worst than expect.

To be honest, after Final Fantasy XIII, Skyrim, and now this... gaming's in a bit of a recession at the moment. There's a whole bunch of 'stuff' going on with various companies that used to be trustworthy, either selling out, getting lazy, making rediculous claims that cause folks to be disappointed with the final product, there's just so much WRONG with triple A titles, and if Mass Effect 3 isn't as good as I'm expecting - if I have severe issue with it - I'll probably just retire from gaming for a while. BW could improve the standard of things and make everyone else take note - but it's far easier to just do what everyone else is doing and getting away with at the moment.

Disappear to do some programming, play some fangames, grab an emulator or two and see if I can get those PS1 games and ancient PC games I haven't played for years running somehow...

Then I might come back at the start of the next console generation to see if the industry's behaving itself yet.

This is fully, FULLY ridiculous, BioWare. Like... man. I know I'm just another voice in the swarm, but I am NOT impressed by this. We are your _fans_. Anything we do on these forums is promotional behaviour for you and your games, even if it is trolling. It's still publicizing YOU. And you lock us out of your forums because we haven't bought the game -- before we can even BUY the game?

Anyone else notice this person is complaining ON the forums? Where they are currently posting? And still have access to? The irony is thick.

We are not barring people from posting on our forums, only limiting which ones they can post in until they register their games, after which, they can post in all Game Owner forums.

Chris, nice name by the way same as my son, I assume the registry automatically happens when we load the game, correct?

It's rather like saying 'buy our product or keep out'. Forum DLC, lol.

While I would not have phrased it this way, this is basically correct. I do not hide from it. Using these forums is a priviledge, not a right. For a very long time we have had people treat these forums as they want to treat them. We want people to treat our forums the way we want them to be treated. This doesn't mean censorship. This doesn't mean only positive posts allowed. This means we give special consideration to the people who buy our games from us and give them forums to express their likes, and dislikes, about our product.

I am sorry some of you are inconvenienced possibly 4 days by not being able to post in some of the forums. This can easily be regained once you register your copy.

It does mean censorship, Chris. That's what's happened here. I can post, but only in the manner you have deemed appropriate. My 4 days of being inconvenienced is not at issue. The morality of what has occurred is. I get that it's BioWare's site, and that I am just a guest on it. But to deny that restricting people from places that were once available to them is censorship. Saying that it isn't, simply because I can argue with you here, on this part of the site, is kind of... illogical?

I've always treated these forums with respect and consistently abided by the rules.

I don't see why I should be penalized from posting in forums that i've been posting in for months just beacuse I'm not able to register a game yet. Especialy the charcter and romance thread, I mean, why lock that one? Most of those threads are to do with pre established charcters in past games, games i've played and supported Bioware through by buying. It's a bit disrespectful regardless of how long they are in lockdown for. It would be nice if you offered us a bit of ease.

How does forum DLC change the tone of the discussion on this forum?

Why should I need to register ME3 to have opinions about the game? I don't have DA2 registered and there was only the one registered game owners forum I could not post in. Why do all ME3 forums except this one need to be for registered owners only ? You know that all the important threads are in other forums besides general such as the 500 page thread about the endings. If you post anything besides the most basic of threads in general then it gets closed because it doesn't belong there. It's funny how this isn't a problem for all the other game forums here.

Being a customer in the past doesn't count for anything? I guess you only get special consideration if you buy the newest games. Everyone gets penalized because you don't like things a few people posted. Also how do you know I didn't buy or play ME3 ? Why does a game need to be registered to prove we played it? You know quite well that plenty of people here played games they don't have registered on their current forum accounts. I'm also going to be inconvenienced for alot more than 4 days because I won't be buying the game anytime soon. I don't like the way you guys treat your customers lately.

Let's also be honest here. This is all because the initial response about ME3 was not positive enough. This is because of all the negative threads and posts about ME3. That's why the site rules were updated and the ME3 forums were locked down to registered owners.

As I remember it, the DA2 forums were the same. I clearly remember that untill I got the game and registered it, I, too, couldn't post in Story & Discussion, tech help, or gameplay forums. So this is nothing new for Bioware to do.

As for mr. Priestly's comment about how the fans have threated these forums, I'm sorry, but I don't get nor do I understand it. A few bad apples have maybe been in here, but then you deal with those, you do not, imo, make it so that updates to rules of conducts effects an entire board or forums full of people. Also, I would hesitate to make the conclusion that a poster above me has done, but it seems clear, to me, at least that maybe there is some truth in this: the gaming industry as a whole is more interested in getting new players and gamers to play their newest hit than to keep their old fans.

As for PS3 and Xbox owners I would again re-iterate my previous position, Xbox Live is only available in a few select countries, maybe 50, maybe 70?. And many people do not have an internet connection in their home, they have a dial up modem still, they have a capped internet connection or an unstable one.
I have a broadban connection and playing on the pc, so I can easily get by, when I decide to buy the game. I can also easily fullfill the requirement with having the Origin client installed to play the game, either offline or online. I don't see why this needs to be so, but apparently there seems to be a good explanation for this?

The point is this:
Bioware and EA, I predict, will lose many sales of ME3 upon this, especially on Xbox3 and PS3, since on those platforms, you have to be logged in at least once and play the game to register it. And in Norway and Sweden and certain parts of the US and Canada people will still have dial up modems as it is not economically enough to have broadbands connections here.

why would you even want to enter the spoiler allowed ME3 buyer only forums when you dont have the game? Everything would get spoiled o.o

nobody should be annoyed that they cant enter the forum unless they have a means to troll.

I understand the reason, but I think You should wait till the game will out everywhere in the world. I'm from Europe and my copy is on the way... You have fans there too:)) Respect us just a lil bit- it ill be nice:) Now you excluded from forum you fans from Europe for few days..
Still don't understand why it could not be the same day everywhere...

The sense of entitlement in this place is ridiculous. You aren't being punished or censored at all. There are still other forums open to people who haven't registered the game, there's just one forum where you have to own the game.

^ this ^

Apparently, allowing regular fans to post in the owners forums, even if they have the game and can prove it - but who simply don't have their own internet access - is a means to maintain the 'good' reputation the game has. Who really cares whether folks are trolling the game on GameFAQs, 4Chan, Youtube, and pretty much every major website in the world - nobody's going to notice that because there are no trolls in the official forum...

I think it's about time those of us who disagree with these proposals could come to an agreement as to which forum we should all move to. Bioware can't stop any of us transferring our activities elsewhere, in fact it's looking to be part of the idea at large - which makes no sense since a bullet hurts no matter where it's fired from.

Well said and I agree with ya 100%. Many of us have been members for how long here? Many of us have a clean record, As fans who care, this is the best place to converse with other fans of the same thing/ who have simalar veiws and likes as us.
By forcing us to buy "Your Product" in order to converse with other fans and some of us may have become internet friends through our shared likes of these games, it's a form of censorship, and If you ask me a Form of extortion.

I don't agree with any sort of censorship and I feel by doing this the boards are going to loose many long time fans.

For those left out in the cold My sig says it all.
