Haha yeeeeees, anti-troll ftw.

They will still troll though, just means they have to buy the game before they can do so. :)

Sorry, not going to happen !

It actually will. If ever spent much time on the registered section of the DA2 forums you can see that same result.

I know you from the ex origin threads as biodrone and €A watchdog. So, once more for the slower ones, no way in hell I will buy this game - as long as €A/BW doesn't come to its senses (pretty unlikely).

He wasn't saying you'd buy the game. The point was that this measure WILL help prevent trolling. For example, escaping people like you.

Mogonk, how is it that if the mods are sooooo draconian with critics, you're still (un)happily posting away?

Sooner or later I'll slip up.  Like, hypothetically, if I had been banned on a previous account (I wasn't) it might have been for saying "David Gaider is a freaking child whose idea of romance is based on Twilight" (I never said that). However true that might be.  Or untrue. I take no position as to the truth of that statement.  In fact I suspect it to be false.  I'm certain that it's false, and I would never say something like that.  Only a terrible person (like David Gaider) would say something like that.

What the hypothetical person who is not me SHOULD have said is "the writing in Dragon Age is slightly less awesome than I would have preferred".  That's the sort of criticism they tolerate.  Or at least don't ban you for.

The extent to which they censor criticism and silence critics will vary directly with the extent to which they are criticized.  If one person comes on the forum and starts raving about how Mac Walters should rot in hell, they won't do much.  If 20 people do it, they will start closing every critical thread they see and banning the people who started them.  If 100 people do it, they will ban everyone who posts in those threads for any reason other than to declare their undying love for Mac Walters.

That's how they roll.

What's wrong with you?  You know this is a company trying to sell a product.  This forum isn't a bastion for free speech.  Why is that hard to grasp?  If you want unbiased discourse, go to a third party forum and talk about things there.  This is simply a marketing arm for the company.

And, you are being melodramatic.  I have seen other game companies moderate their forums MUCH more autocratically than Bioware.  Creative Assembly, anyone?

I think the lame "From Ashes" moanfest being allowed to reach almost 500 pages kind of blows your point out of the water.

this.

Your correct, while it won't stop it in total as to why I mentioned the DA2 registered section of the forums and how it still occurs there from time to time. Overall it will reduce it somewhat but not eliminate it completely. A reduction is better than nothing however. When tied into the stronger stance on forum rules both elements together should have a good impact.

Let's keep it to the topic please.

The key thing we're trying to call out is that we are taking a much stronger stance on attacks aimed at individuals.

There's no requirement anywhere that says to post here someone has to like anything we've done.  But they will need to express it in a way that does not resort to attacking others or attempts at being clever and disguising any number of other existing rule breaking items as part of their posts.

Critique the work, not the people.

Well, there are going to be who dislike the game and there's nothing wrong with that.  There's also nothing wrong with them expressing their opinion.  Its how that opinion is expressed that matters.

So that means no more floods of threads about sporting events that don't belong on the bsn? Yes please.

No, it just means those floods will be on the non-registered forums.

If the concern is strictly about the way people express themselves and that's what expected/required from the posters ... then adding the requirement to have registered games associated with your account in order to actually allow one to express themselves in the first place, seems rather superfluous, if not plain nonsensical?

So, I have an honest question.

Will the threads of paying customers that contain negative remarks and opinions about ME3 be closed and users be banned?

Stanley Woo said it wasn't against the rules to hold conflicting opinions.

People who break the rules here, if it is severe enough, will be banned. We are working to make all of the BSN a more enjoyable place for fans and Devs to visit and talk to each other. If poeple abuse the site rules here, they may be banned.

People who are banned will not be able to post to forums, use polls, groups, etc. They will continue to be able to access their games and their DLC. That will not change even if they are banned.

We will NOT ban people simply because they do not like something we have done. Part of BioWare continuing to grow and make better games is learning form our fans what they like and dislike. Constructive criticism is very welcome. I would LOVE it if everyone loved everything we do, but I'm also realistic enough to understand that different people enjoy different things and no one will like the same thing in the same way or to the same degree,.

I know we'll have poeple post abotu what they do not like. THis is fine as long as they do it in a way that follows the same rules that everyone else agrees to.

I asked Chris this a long time ago and he said it would be cool but didn't say if they'd be able to do it for ME3.

Good, perhaps the number of emotionally immature posts will be reduced, "THIZ GAMEZ SUX" can become real tedious, I look forward to more constructive posts.(for or against)

I see this after the maintainance:

Image IPB

Mass Effect 3 Soundtrack listed twice and Online Pass listed twice. Anything wrong?

...also, I had bought the Digital Deluxe Edition online through Origin. Where are the pre-order goodies and Where is the Collector's Edition DLC stuff?

I only have Online Pass listed once. Though do have the soundtrack listed for all platforms with a second time for PC for good measure too.

I'm glad to hear this. Hopefully now we'll get more good, constructive criticism or discussion without the childish screaming and entitlement issues. BSN is an utterly dreadful place to visit right now and it's good to hear some of the nonsense is going to be cracked down on.

I got online pass only once, I have the soundtrack 4 times, twice for PC, once for XBOX360 and once for PS3 even though they are all the same file. I have the From Ashes DLC listed, and the chakram-launcher plus reckoner knight armour, and no other pre-order stuff

Thanks for giving us the chance to register our games early, thus avoiding possible problems on release day.
