also, is the "registered ME3 players only" forums going to be a separate forum from this one? or is this one going to be turned into the new forum, thus making a new forum for people without the game?

Yes, you did.
The forum is the same, just people who don't own ME3 won't be able to post.

Not everyone who disagrees with the things Bioware is doing are trolls.
However, this isn't a bad idea.
I agree, not everyone is. But those people can present their opinions in more adult way, without seeing like trolls.
And yeah, nobody should be too blind to the game and give valid critque.

"abuse/insulting staff" ...
... I find it hard to believe anyone can be "abused/insulted" by someone's ranting.
... Why take such a thing seriously?
... If I don't respect someone's opinion,
... ... I give it no weight whatsoever.
The authority/ability to delete an offensive post is all a moderator needs.
I find the threat "behave, or else" to be quite insulting.
Your policies seem to eliminate "humans" from your list of acceptable users ...
... unless you are saying your users and/or staff have never said anything stupid when upset?
... banned because you had a couple bad weeks in 50 years?
... Really?
Whereas I agree with the spirit/intent of these changes ...
... Fascism seems an ineffective response to free speech issues.

This is a videogame forum. It isnt the French Revolution.

I might argue that the treatment being given to Sandra Fluke by Rush Limbaugh demonstrates that "someone's ranting" can, indeed, lead someone to be abused and insulted. While she may not respect his opinion, plenty of his listeners do, and give it great weight. Luckily, this forum isn't anywhere near as vile, but words have power and insulting someone, even here, can be hurtful, damaging and, yes, even abusive.

Forizzle.
I own the game, but this account is seperate than my xbox, since I have no effing clue what I did with it when I first got ME2.
But don't worry bioware, your "Game Owners" board will be worse than these ones because people will play Deus Ex Effect: BattleStar Galactica and they will just be tickled dead with your original and exciting endings.
/sarcasm.

... moderate behavior not people
... you'll have more success,
... ... and won't sink to ranter's level of heavy handedness.
2) Limbaugh vs. Fluke illustrates my point.
... Fluke wasn't harmed by Limbaugh's nonsense.
... a) he doesn't personally know her
...
... c) his remarks clearly were about government funding not Fluke's personal life
... d) whose opinion of Fluke changed because of Limbaugh's rant?
... e) whose opinion of Limbaugh changed because of all the media attention?

So, let me get this straight. You can't seem to grasp someone getting upset or feeling insulted if they're personally attacked; yet, you take umbrage to a moderator giving a "finger wag" warning about behaviour...
Hmmm... ok.

You're complaining about something you agreed to, so what kind of sense does that make?
Don't agree, don't accept the forum rules, don't post here. Simple, no?

There are no free speech issues. This is a privately owned forum. You want to post here you have to agree and abide by the owner's rules. Free speech is only guaranteed by the government from the government.
