I'll be registering, but I'm pretty danged sure it's mostly to discuss the game. I've always been civil, but don't think everyone is going to adhere to these rules. That saddens me.

Although I do find this sort of thing potentially draconian, I can imagine a very real possibility that some of the stuff on these threads could cause an enormous amount of stress on BW employees and they do have the responsibility to protect their staff, especially if it has been raised as an issue by some staff members. If I was their boss I would feel responsible and probably want to do something similar to this policy - you want your staff to be working happily and efficiently for you after all. Having the job of dealing with crazies like us wouldn't necessarily be the most pleasant job especially if you also have other deadlines. I would suggest that this is just as likely a reason for the new forum rules as any corporate machinations.

Asking people to be nice is potentially draconian?  :P  That's basically what this is.  It's not going to affect me because I've always made an effort to at least remain polite, and do we really want impolite people posting here?

If someone breaks these rules, appropriate measures will be taken so don't worry much about it.

Zero tolerance rules sometimes leads to bans that unjustified. I once got banned for saying Meth dealing was bad cause the moderator misread what I wrote. I have never returned to the forum. If done equally and fairly a moderation is great but anytime ZERO tolerance seems to be used a broad banning seems to happen...Like a purge. It causes fear to give feedback....This is my opinion which in the long run mean jack and squat :)

Wholeheartedly approve of the update to the rules. Great to see that you guys stand up for your staff. :)

Can't wait for the 6th! :D

And i don't, on the contrary, i feel punished for ordering a physical copy and living in Europe. Don't get me wrong, i understand WHY you came up with the idea, just can't get why couldn't it wait a couple more days to give everyone fair chances - we can't have the game, we can't have the mp demo and now we can't even have the forums, this is just ridiculous.

Is there any particular reason we can't post in the character section anymore until we register ME3?

Yeah I noticed that as well. Kinda hard to meet the requirements to post when I can't get my hands on a copy of the game until tomorrow haha. But It's going to suck even more for people who have to wait till the 9th :?.

I dont understand why we have to register anything to comment in the first place.

Its not like it protects against spoilers or anything(as we can still read other ppls comments), so srsly, whats the point? xP

Noob question:
Will I ever be able to post on this forum again, if I don't have a gamertag associated with Mass Effect 3? (we play the Mass Effect games on Xbox, he has the gamertag). I play plenty of EA games on PC and have an Origin account and register games in my own name, shouldn't I be allowed to post here?

The "Character Romance and Discussion" thread is locked down as well? But I was posting my vids there! Ah, well, I guess I'll live... maybe.

A suggestion though, make it easier for users to recognize which forums they can access and post in and which they cannot, a colour-based system maybe.

Will it be possible to play the game offline, thus not register, and pass the copy to someone else? >.>

On PC, there is no separate Online Pass code. Instead the game registration page of BSN will detect your Mass Effect 3 game on your Origin account and treat this an Online Pass equivalent.

So...there is no way to purchase an online pass separately for the PC? So if you purchase a used PC copy from a friend, etc. you can't play multiplayer, even if you are willing to pay the extra $10? I have no problem with the idea of an online pass, but I would like to see the option for PC users.

I like the idea, it is a great idea all round. My only issue is, being a UK gamer, i wouldn't be able to access the new sections until Friday. But as it were mentioned, the new site isn't coming on until the weekend anyway.

Once the game is tied to an origin account it can't be transferred.

You won't be able to purchase a 'used' PC copy. So don't get conned into giving your 'friend' money for it.

I think we all expect there to be limits to the toleration shown by BioWare and its representatives, but as loyal customers we also should expect those limits to be greater than zero. As fallible humans, we are all subject to the possibility of saying something unequivocally stupid from time to time, and if I faceroll a stupid comment onto these forums I feel that someone should be able to point that out in pretty blunt terms without facing an automatic perma-ban.

Agreed. But it is all about corporate policy.

Now a concrete question: Will there be a non game owners ME 3 spoilers allowed board? That is ithe most important part :).

It may be corporate policy but that policy is about courtesy and being proactive in defending their creative employees while enabling them to consider customer perceptions in an environment where criticism is filtered for content.

Just because we are paying customers doesn't mean we get to beat up Bioware employees, nor insult them.

This policy is not just acceptible, it should be lauded.

I am getting highly frustrated I have been trying to get ME3 to register with the site here and it keeps telling me "Your ownership of Mass Effect 3 was not detected. You are most likely logged in to the BioWare Social Network with a different account than the one you are using to play Mass Effect 3" really? I only have one account and right now I am on line I own the game I am able to play a game on the multiplayer co-op so can you guys at Bio help me please I own the PS3 version!

If you can post here you are already registered and need not do so again. Check for another open instance of your browser?

I can only here I can't on any other ME3 forum pages

I have access to post in ME3 Game Owner Only Forum: No

I tryed 2 different broswers and it still says the same thing I liked how I could put in my UPC or something like that to register a game but ME3 is all automated so why isn't it seeing that I am able to play online?? I would love to post this problem on the PS3 troubleshoot forum but I don't have access which sucks!

Trying to post a link for you in PS3 troubleshooting... will advise how that goes: I might not be able to post there because I have a PC registration.
