A lot of people are upset by ME3's ending because it doesn't feature Shepard riding off into the sunset with his/her love.

Before I get to my main point, a German writer by the name of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe wrote a novel entitled "The Sorrows of Young Werther" in 1774. The book became immensely popular, but there were many readers who were so distraught by the protagonist's suicide that some decided to write alternative endings in which Werther wins his love and doesn't commit suicide. And I quote:

It reputedly also led to some of the first known examples of copycat suicide. The "Werther Fever" was watched with concern by the authorities and fellow authors. One of the latter, Friedrich Nicolai, decided to create a happier—ending called Die Freuden des jungen Werthers ("The Joys of Young Werther"), in which Albert, having realized what Werther is up to, had loaded chicken blood into the pistol, thereby foiling Werther's suicide, and happily concedes Lotte to him. And after some initial difficulties, Werther sheds his passionate youthful side and reintegrates himself into society as a respectable citizen.

See what Mr. Nicolai did here? He refused to accept the ending and wrote his own. You can, too, for Mass Effect 3. It will be your very own canon story for your Shepard and his/her LI.

I don't see how hard it is to do something like that.
