Interesting that you guys are probably putting way more thought into the storyline than the creators did. I can totally see things happen like this at an interview:

Fan: So, [scenario X], that's the whole story behind the Reapers and the Guardian, right?
BW: Huuuh, oooh yes. As a matter of fact, yeah.
Fan: And you had this in the back of your mind all along?
BW: Yes.
Fan: Wow. Bioware, best writers, smartest guys ever, neatest company, best video games of the year, all years.

this made me laugh

That is what i think as well, and thats why i am so dissapointed, i always though the ME universe was deeper and more intelligent than what they did with it, these endings makes the ME universe seem shallow or like if it was made for specifically for younger people who cant see through the stupid reasoning behind this plot.

The big "reveal" about the Reapers in ME3 is a contrived, trite cliche.

Meh,

The singularity? Whatever. Go bug Kurzweil, he'll talk about his nerd rapture with you all day.

I'm satisfied with the concept of the singularity being the Reaper's motivation, but I really wish they went into more detail about it.

Just saying "Synthetics will kill organics" and not elaborating why the first civilization thought this or the logic behind the inevitability of an apocolyptic war with AI just makes the motivation seem hollow.

Like the concept, hate how shallow they made it.

I really do wish they'd kept it morally grey without giving them a "greater good" purpose.

Harvesting people for reproduction.
Harvesting people for knowledge.
Harvesting people to make pies to feed their Creator Race.

I don't care, but the Reapers really did not require a greater purpose for this series to be amazing. All it's really done is take the fear that Sovereign instilled in people and turned it into a pointless mind-boggle.

If they had required us for some reason or another to fulfill some big agenda it would've been fantastic. Beings as powerful as them relying on the evolution of galactic civilization in order to complete their purpose. But for them to be guardians of organic life is just...

I'm just, personally, disappointed. I liked the idea that these Grand Machines of Ultimate Destruction relied on us, but to find out that we rely on them, to some extent, has left a part of me feeling somewhat bothered.

Oh well.

Yes, in fact the developers said that the ending would not leave more questions.

So... basically you could say that the creators of the Reapers were super advanced Quarians, fearing what might happen to organics if a Tech Singularity was to occur, turned themselves into reapers, a creature that thinks organics are below taking notice of.

We can't even be sure that the creators of the reapers didn't screw up like the Quarians as well, fearing the questions of AI, they fought against them, and turned themselves into reapers and destroyed all syntheics because AI was about to make dyson sphere.

Even thought that there is proof AI simply isn't interested in 'gaining more intelligence and consuming all'  and can actually care for organics ie EDI

After thinking about what you said, I agree with you 100 percent. A super Advanced race I guess you could say made the first proto-reapers if you will were made to make sure the galaxy isn't stripped of all of the materials and is given a chance to re acquire the materials during the absence of space faring races.

Stripping the entire galaxy? Yeah, not gonna happen.

Also, recycling...
