I have downloaded and installed the DDE preload.  When I click on the desktop icon placed by the installer I get an error message pop up:

"The version of this file (D:\\Games\\...\\MassEffect3.exe) is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running..."

When I attempt to launch from inside Origin (8.5.0.4550) I only get the syncing cloud data window pop up then nothing happens (no error message or anything else, just sits there staring at me  )

I am running Win7 Ultimate x64 SP1 on an AMD Phenom II X6 with 16.0GB ram, and have no issues running the demo.  Is this a problem with the release date check program or will I still have issues after release?

If you're downloaded and installed then that's it. You can't play the game until tuesday. I'm assuming you got the Release Date Check popup atleast once, so hitting accept isn't going to launch the game.

I asked same thing, except I was writing it when you posted yours.. I have same error, and same situation. I played Mass Effect 2 on the same PC no problem, so I hope it just goes away when the 5th comes.

Try uninstalling Orgins and then reinstalling from here:
http://www.origin.com/download
After it redownloaded I got a 40mb update on the game, then when try to lauch got the release date checker.

Thanks rob, you were spot on. After the re-install I did a Repair install from the right click menu and got the 40mb update then the release date popup.

Hi I get the same thing.  I'd wait until March 5th !
Then I bet it works :-)

Obviously the game isn't going to work yet. But the release date checking not working right is a problem.

Same thing I was having on Win7 x64 tonight. Will try the fix (install Origin again) and see if that helps.

Don't want to try to start it up on Tues when it is actually released and Origin not unlock it properly.

EDIT:  Actually right-clicking on ME3 and choosing "check for updates" did the trick.  Origin had already updated when I started it up earlier today.

I've downloaded the 40mb patch, but I'm still getting the error. It seems like the patch isn't being applied though since when I check for updates it downloads the patch again.

Anyone else getting this?

I've re-installed origin, did a repair install of the game, and now I've downloaded this update several times with no success x.x

edit: Uninstalled all origin games, uninstalled origin, did a fresh install and redownloaded the game, but I am still getting the 64-bit error message. The patch is applied now at least.
