Tom Chick: "Mass Effect 3 ending is amazing, ties up all the loose ends"

Tom Chick recently finished Mass Effect 3. He gave his overall thoughts on the game, and the ending as well on the Quarter to Three podcast show.
To hear the discussion skip to the 52:00 mark: http://www.quarterto.../#disqus_thread
For people who are to lazy to listen here are the basic cliff notes of what he said;
-He said it was the best out of the three
-Really liked the gameplay and levels
-Really loved the overall narrative, and is really eager to discuss it further
-Was so good he wants to play again
His thoughts on the ending: He really loved the ending, and loved that Bioware took a interesting bold choice. Agreed that some people might not like, but he personally, loved it and felt it tied all the knots to the Mass Effect triology. A perfect conclusion of sorts.

If all the people online that posted video responses or stupid images instead of intelligent responses were removed by the Reapers in a world-wide purge, the world would probably be a better place.

Not sure if I can take seriously if he refers to the endings in singular.

Yea lets trust the reviewers just like Dragon Age 2. Remember how that went in our favour. The only people I trust are people who buy the game with their own money.
Oh, now, DA2 wasn't that bad, wasn't it?

I expect the masses won't care due to the pew-pew at the end and the pretty colors. It's mainly going to ****** off the hardcore fans.

I love tom to death and I agree about gameplay and dialog/exposition. The plot and endings and the twist i fundamentally do not agree on.
You already finished the game?

Meh. It does wrap all the loose ends I guess, other than the plot holes.

Nah, I'll mainly like it because I like dramatic and sad endings...don't really care for pew-pew, and pretty color stuff.

I can see this type of ending as being popular with the critics but not with the fan base..

It wasn't "that" bad, but it wasn't "that" good, either.

Someone said in another thread he mentions the game is still under review embargo. In other words you have to say nice things if you want your review.
He could have just not said anything at all. Considering he didn't especially like the first two games, it's not like he has anything invested in it succeeding.

Like i said if anyone pans the game they will never get review copies from EA. http://www.quarterto...of-2011-so-far/ I just checked dragon age 2 is not on that List yet LA Noire is WTF!!! I don't trust this guy.
He's right about L.A. Noire. It was a fascinating exercise in concept, but fundamentally flawed in execution. Sure, L.A. Noire is like almost nothing you've ever played before, but the problem is that it's particular brand of fruit isn't quite ripe yet.

WTF seriosly wants your angle.
I get it, Dragon Age 2 made you a skeptic. You put faith in the reviewers that appeared to be give an appropriate score to a deserving sequel, and got backstabbed so to speak.
I get it.
But seriously will this be the new trend for all future Bioware games? Christ. Enough of this BS already.
Also a few things...
1. If you bothered to listen to the podcast you would notice how he said he NEVER really liked Mass Effect
2. If you even know Tom Chick or even read any of his RPS reviews then you know he's a notoriously harsh critic and rarely praises games.
3. Review copies are sent to any website. From big sites, to small sites. EVERY single gaming related site get's a review copy. There's no, "oh your ign here's yours. And you? Sorry EDGE let's wait till March 6th for you." No, everyone get's review copies at the same time (or roughly the same time)
4. RPS, and Tom Chick are not big influental sites. Of course many people read RPS, and many PC gamers know how he is, and what not. But still this isn't IGN who gets thousands of vistors a day.
So seriously back off. If he wanted to flame the game, he easily could've.

i agree,
from the very beginning bioware has been stating how this is our shepherd, and we decided his story. but it seems, in the final game, Bioware has decided to tell us how its gonna end. WHAT happend to our story??

Publicity, advertising.
I'm done here. Seriously I'm done. Publicity? Seriously, for saying postive impressions about a game that nearly every gaming review site will do also (assuming of course).
Advertising? C'mon, do you even realize how ridicoulous that sounds. Advertisting. Hey guys we gave a positive Mass Effect 3 impression! Potential Buyers "Yeah, so did IGN, Gamestar, PSX, and probably every other site out there."
Christ. It feels like now if you like a game which has been released yet then your obviously being secretly paid off.
Ugh. <_<

well he is a Bio fan . because the ending makes me sick and want to vomit
Yeah. Big Bioware fan.
Like The Old Republic..and hated Mass Effect 1 and 2. Huge Bioware fan.
It sounds to me you don't agree with his impressions. It sounds to me like you wanted him to SPECIFICALLY blast the game. You wanted him to rage about the plot, the ending, and have him call out Bioware as a disgrace of company...because that's how you feel right now, and your pissed that people are liking something that you clearly don't.
