Yea lets trust the reviewers just like Dragon Age 2. Remember how that went in our favour. The only people I trust are people who buy the game with their own money.

I actually enjoyed Dragon Age II more that the first.   And yes, I bought the game with my own money.

Yet many people hated it, as it was such a radical departure from the first game.  For the same reason, I enjoyed it.  I personally felt that DA:O was a generic modern role-playing game that tried desprately to embody the "old school" feeling and failed.

Personally, before anyone trashes the game I think they should play it.  Even if they hate the endings, they might enjoy the actual game for what it is.   People are so caught up on a one minute cutscene they forget that there's about 19 hours and 59 minutes of other content which could be "goddamn perfect", as Zaeed would say.

The ending is what matters. The journey will get nullified if the ending is total bullsh*t. For a lot of people at least. The rest of the content can be the best evah, but still the money on the game would be wasted if the ending is horrible, since there's no way I'll playthrough a story again to get to that horrible ending once more.

50 euros for a game that'll have some 20 hours played? Not worth it. I got 323 hours on ME2 and I want atleast as many hours from ME3, if not more.

Did you play 300+ hours of Mass Effect 2 because the ending was fantastic?  Or did you play it because you enjoyed the game?

My point is, it seems a little silly from my perspective to judge the game based simply on the ending, without seeing how everything plays out.  Maybe when you actually sit down and play the game from start to finish, you'll understand why it ended the way that it did.   Or maybe you will still hate it but feel the game itself is really fun to play.

Maybe I'm the rare ME fan, but I never played the games because I was expecting a great ending - I played them because I liked the universe, the characters, and especially the gameplay which gets better with each game.  Based on the demo, the main bulk of the game (combat) is a blast.  Why wouldn't I play it and enjoy it?

Maybe they played it because they could actively affect and effect an/the ending.

but the mass effect universe is destroyed.

He's probably just a fan of these sort of endings. Of course it'd be great to him. He seems the type.

Other people have already mentioned this, but just to say again:

He admits not liking the first two games very much, but admiring this one a great deal.

That's not definitive proof that this game is a departure from the series, but is a big goddamn red flag.

Change and innovation in a series isn't bad or good by itself, but if this change happens to concern the 'bold, interesting choice' of endings... well, then it reinforces a lot of the concerns.

Mine is 161.

I love the Special Olympics between you two as neither of you can prove jack ****.  Also someone saying that having a higher IQ makes them smarter than another individual really doesn't understand IQ anyway.

The Mass Effect universe is still around.  Unless they all die in the war, all the races are still alive.  Hell, even Earth still exists even if a lot of it is in ruins.  Fictional life goes on, even if there are a lot of changes.  If "the end of the world" stopped a universe from growing Fallout would have ended even before it began.

^This.

So this reviewer likes horrible endings where everyone dies and your crew forms an incestuous colony. Great for him. Doesn't mean that other people will magically like ME3's horrible ending.

Someone said in another thread he mentions the game is still under review embargo. In other words you have to say nice things if you want your review.

WTF seriosly wants your angle.

I get it, Dragon Age 2 made you a skeptic. You put faith in the reviewers that appeared to be give an appropriate score to a deserving sequel, and got backstabbed so to speak.

 I get it.

But seriously will this be the new trend for all future Bioware games? Christ. Enough of this BS already.

Also a few things...

1. If you bothered to listen to the podcast you would notice how he said he NEVER really liked Mass Effect
2. If you even know Tom Chick or even read any of his RPS reviews then you know he's a notoriously harsh critic and rarely praises games.
3. Review copies are sent to any website. From big sites, to small sites. EVERY single gaming related site get's a review copy. There's no, "oh your ign here's yours. And you? Sorry EDGE let's wait till March 6th for you." No, everyone get's review copies at the same time (or roughly the same time)
4. RPS, and Tom Chick are not big influental sites. Of course many people read RPS, and many PC gamers know how he is, and what not. But still this isn't IGN who gets thousands of vistors a day.

So seriously back off. If he wanted to flame the game, he easily could've.

Angle ? It's a warning to anyone who is thinking that these reviews pre-embargo would be anything but glowing.

No he could not. He was only allowed to do that review becauase it was favourable to the game. Look up review embargo.

Keep dreaming, everyone who played the game until now said the game was amazing (including people who are not professional reviewers and people speaking under anonimity)

Stop asuming that just because you cant have your waifu that the game sucks

Interesting... there's a point in that podcast where Tom says 'I really think you'll love the ending. But there are also people who'll hate it. But I absolutely think it's worth getting to. And I bet people are like 'Aw, I bet I know what part he's on about' but you really don't.'

Wondering if he's aware of the leaks or if he's just talking about possible speculation that could crop up without the leaks. It was around 1:01:00 - 1:03:00 anyway.

Where did I say the game sucked?

If you read any of my other posts it's not about the characters it's about spending XX hours doing pointless crap like scanning and sidequests and not being rewarded for that investment.

You see I can get that reward without the hours of pointless crap. That means the only reason for the pointless crap is to make the game look longer.

Compare to ME2 , you do all the extras and a lot of planet scanning you get to bring the whole game back from the SM. Don't do it and they die.

Why should he? Does freedom of expression something means to you? I'm agree with him, there's no satisfying reward, there's at best a consolation prize.

Is that confirmed? I'm not saying the endings are amazing or anything, but do we know for sure what happens if we don't bother doing any scanning or whatnot? Maybe in that case a 'default' ending is chosen based on our GAW assets and we don't get to choose at all, and it's the ending that causes most damage (not to Shep and crew, obviously, since that seems to be written in stone, but to the galaxy at large).  Some choice/being able to mitigate a bit of the damage is better than no choice at all, right? right? sigh. :(

Well what has been presented? Have the spoiler guys played through the game not trying to get all the GAW assets? Or have they played through trying to do as much as possible, and have therefore got ending choices (for whatever they're worth) as opposed to a default? I seriously don't know.

Apparently Earth gets more devastated if you don't have enough assets I think, plus it can affect what happens to Shepard and the choices availiable.

But what the problem stems from is that it seems that a certain scene/sequence seems to happen no matter what.

Partially I agree with the chick.

The gameplay is fun. There's the issue that you almost have to snipe for interacting with things or you go into cover, but the rest: I mostly liked it.

If his critique is mentioning the ends already leaked, I have to disagree with him though.
A bold move...you can argue about that, given the perspective.
If he likes that kind of ends...I can understand, but not agree.

There may be corrupt review-sites. I can't prove, nor deny, neither can any of you.
If someone disagrees with you, he doesn't have to be corrupt or a liar.
A different perspective is okay.

I'm on your side with the endings(What good is the best waterslide of the world, if it ends in the sewers?) and I'm annoyed by BioWare for their corporate-politics right now(there is a thread discussing the endings where I stated what I mean so read it there, if you want), but raging against anyone who doesn't share your point of view...did you really bring up your IQ in such a childish and flat kind of discussion?
