7 endings divided into 3 categories (4 "paragon" / 2 "renegade" / 1 "neutral")
but those endings have nothing to do with your renegade / paragon choices throughout the game, you decide at the very end what ending you want (and the differences result by different war asset scores)

Depends on your intepretation.

I'll use Star Wars ROTJ as an example:

Ending 1 - Dancing Ewoks have blue fur
Ending 2 - Dancing Ewoks have red fur
Ending 3 - Dancing Ewoks have green fur

yes, but you can max out by only playing singleplayer and doing all the side missions

Multiplayer makes your war assets worth more. So you can use it to make up for a low score.

I haven't heard about this. I jsut heard there were three endings with negligble differences.

if by "negligble" you mean if shepard lives or dies, then yes. because if you want him to survive, you need the highest possible war asset score (or a bit lower if you made the right choice at one point in the game)
