Are you suggesting they were mindless drones for living under the regime they did, or because of later indoctrination? If the former, I can't agree with the view that that means they merit less sympathy
Though I agree that the isolationist nature of the Batarians meant we would have struggled to ever help them (take note Terra Firma)

It's the Reapers. Didn't you play the demo? Notice the Cannibals, the new husks with four eyes?
Where do you suppose they got those husks?

Batarian homeworld falls to unknown invasion force. The galaxy rejoices.

I like that earth is not the first world that is hit by the Reapers. The war is supose to be for the galaxy and not just about earth so it feels right that we are not the first. Batarians where easy targets because they are alone with no real contact with Council space.
Now it's the humans turn and I don't think there will be much left of earth when Shepard gets back.

I vote we put a batarian monument on the Citadel. With a plaque that reads 'Nothing is impossible.'

Well, to be fair, they lost half a starsystem because they did not want to share with the Alliance and tried to use terrorist attacks to force the Alliance out.SnakeStrike8 wrote...
Y'know, I do actually feel sorry for the batarians. They get booted off of Council space, get soundly trounced by the Alliance, lose an entire star system, an now this!
I vote we put a batarian monument on the Citadel. With a plaque that reads 'Nothing is impossible.'
And they left Council space in a ultimatum: Get ridd of the humans or we will leave.
But i feel bad for the civilian Batarians who are not slavers or terrorists.

Reference much?
Eden Prime. The Apple.
The Apple of Eden.
Shepard has to find an old prothean Animus to find the last Apple of Eden in order to destroy the Reapers, who are in fact the Templars.

Good lord!
Hegemony Commander, Eruz Mathat, who is under guard while his cruiser is inspected, was blunt in his assessment of the situation. “I never thought I would say this to the human navy,” he said, “but we need you.”. That is just bombastic. But why would they try to reach the Alliance and not the other races? Is the sol system even close to their system? And what if it's not the reapers? They didn't say nothing about machines. Well, they did point at the geth, but they pointed at everyone.
Um, it's obviously the Reapers, duh!!!
Plus, you can see from the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer galaxy map, that Alliance Space borders Batarian space.
(And there were mentions of that even in mass effect 1 I think...

Yep, Alliance Space borders Batarian space. And the only thing the Baterians knew was that it wasn't the humans that invaded and that wolk make humans a hope since they are a strong force.Revanor wrote...

The Batarian government and hardliners always wanted to attack Earth, now they finally have the chance to do so.
In a way.
