to see the batarians get attack like that, a part of me says yup they deserver what they get, and the other part of me says that we should send in some support to help em out to show that us humans are not bad as they think we are. Its now the time to proove them wrong of what they think of us and win them as an allie.

Only a handful of people is aware of the existence of the Reapers, politics as usual have no idea what to do, they might even think they can negotiate with them. In any case, we saw it in the demo that the Reapers wiped out most of the human fleets in a day, forcing Shepard and the Normandy to literally run for their lives and ask for help.
Humanity couldn't even defend the Sol system, the Batarians at this moment is the least of their concerns.

There seems to be a problem with Sol system's comm buoys. And my internet just went down for a few minutes, you think it was the handywork of Bioware/EA? :D It would be a great commercial step: paralyse the internet and all communication networks troughout the planet! :D Send Reaper-shaped balloons to the stratosphere, make people **** their pants.

Are you suggesting they were mindless drones for living under the regime they did, or because of later indoctrination? If the former, I can't agree with the view that that means they merit less sympathy

Though I agree that the isolationist nature of the Batarians meant we would have struggled to ever help them (take note Terra Firma)

Taking North Korea as an example, both NK civilians and Batarian civilians have been indoctrinated by the government since forever. They have no rights and are constantly fed propoganda. Killing them is actually doing them a favor.

Wow, somewhat regret associating myself with your views now

That is seriously messed up. I won't take on this, seeing as it would distract from this cool bit of ME news, but suffice it to say.. messed up

I think that came out horribly wrong and I apologize
I meant killing Batarians being fictional aliens and all.
But North Koreans are seriously in a dire situation and do not have the ability to stage a revolution
The laws are incredibly strict, the public are bribed to rat out dissidents and those caught are in jail
They actualy have a hotel/prison where the families of political prisoners can meet them

So ya. Batarian Hegemony = North Korea. In both cases I would gladly take part in and support a revolution (though in reality that can always backfire) but the government/military is the real enemy. That commander they caught? He's probably resposnible for many war crimes. Kill him and quartine the rest (Indoctrination prevention)

I am really sorry. PLEASE don't think of me as some messed up, murdeous, child eating psycho!

So I'm really concerned about the time factor. Even the fact that humanity could decipher those prothean artefacts on Mars in like two years is unsettling, let alone the fact that 30 years after the First Contact War, Humanity is one of the leading/prominent species in council space (while other species had to wait for centuries). The Reapers wiped out the protheans in a few CENTURIES (with access to the Citadel), yet they seem to have finished with a great portion of Batarian space in a week. How long would it take to rally the races of the galaxy against the Reapers? Months.
How many people will have died on Earth by then? I have doubts about the survival of Anderson, or even Earth (in a month, the Reapers could kill a BILLION people). So Kar'Shan? The most likely scenario is that the Systems' Alliance somehow conquers the Batarians after the whole Reaper incident. Either in a 'friendly' way and become their protectors like the turian-volus affair (paragon outcome) or by force (renegade outcome).
Unless my rachni allies decide to have sexual intercourse with everybodies' anus, because that would be a great setup for Mass Effect 4: Rachni wars 2.0

I know that you are a Batarian agent in fact, trying to undermine Human nobility wherever you can.
You can't come out of this nicely anymore. :D

That is fair, and its good that you have made your views more clear, as it was open to interpretation a bit on your previous post

And I would agree that the situation in North Korea is terrible, I would add (in possible alliance with your sentiments) that given the state is so oppressive and domineering that the compliance of the people doesn't suggest they are guilt of the same cruel mindset as the leaders

So in Mass Effect terms, that the Hegemony is so successfully oppressive is not evidence that Batarians are evil full stop, but rather that those in charge are very effective at controlling the populace, and that those who engage in piracy/slavery are no more representative of Batarians than are human pirates/slavers

Finally! I'd been curious what would be happening with the Batarian's in this whole mess, and how they would play out. I really would love to see more involving them because of the complex relationship that humanity has with them. This also gives me some hope that we can have access to one in the Multiplayer portion at some point. Very cool. Would love to know more about their culture and such, and hopefully they will take this opportunity to elucidate us.

Wrong. Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.

I got a huge kick out of this.  I was expecting the usual news that is interesting, but not that meaningful.  Reading about Batarian comms going down and how they were blaming the Alliance made me think that it was them scapegoating the Alliance for their own problems.  After Arrival, I'm sure the Alliance would be the obvious choice for blame.  Once I saw that Alliance comms were going down it occurred to me what was really happening.

So THAT explains why the reapers already had batarian husks when invading earth. Still, you got to wonder, with that amount of husks, how badly are things going for the batarians? Are we talking "complete annihilation" here?

I'm pretty sure we'll never see Batarians ever again.

I find that kind of sad.

Killing them is a waste of potential. I say create workcamps with strict security and proper behavior control. Council and alliance should already know about indoctrination from data provided by asari scientist from virmire and shep's helmet cam. Also they wll be prepared for some action.

Oh wait. It's ME writing. Things will get exceptionaly bad in plot departament. Its story is too fragmented.
