. . . . well . . . . ppl can profit from "love", but its "illegal" b/c sex is bad but war is good

Indeed, but war it's more profitable, and love is a big problem when the thing that moves war is fear and irracional hate.

not arguing with you there, but lust is also a pretty strong "emotion"

there's no reason why both can't be profitable, is my point

why is war ok but sex bad? why can't both be ok or both be bad?

its just ridiculous if you ask me

Lol, no... I don't even have to ask, any sane person would agree with you.

but seriously, the whole species concept is that they look atractive to all other species which is a form of survivability, the addition of the method of their pregnancy just adds to it, it is well done

They're sort of out-of-place, TBH. They seem like a holdover from when the series was intended as more of a reconstruction of space opera tropes.

This is exactly my problem with the asari. They were created , and I never use this word lightly, just for pointless fanservice.

Or because they wanted to put female aliens in the first game but were too lazy to make turian, krogan, or salarian ones. Or because they couldn't make those aliens sexy.

Or all three.

Hey, man, no point in putting a female alien in the game unless you can cater to adolescent male fantasies. I mean, that's the entire point of female characters, amirite?

...seriously, the "aliens are all male even if there's no lore reason for it" thing is massively WTF, particularly in something like Mass Effect.

Asari have no gender though. . .They can serve as male or female in the relationship, so your claims that their purpose is to satisfy the imaginations of little boys is not supported by ME lore. . .it sounds like you just made it up.

lol. I wonder if BioWare will just remove any romance or romantic scenes from their games altogether.

Because between the horny "fans" and the press, doesn't seem like they can win.

Hey man, they "won" me over a long time ago, I'm satisfied, but I just wanted to hear what other people think--I mean it's not a "game-breaking" flaw. But sex is awkward at times in the game. But yeah I hear you they're always going to ****** people off.

Are you? The asari bartender from Illium fits none of the criteria you mentioned for the "entire asari species" as fanservice, but then again you weren't talking about her. No, you were making a grand generalization about an entire species.

From what I heard about the Samantha romance it's more of Bioware's "LESBIANS ARE HAWT!!!" thing they started with Liara in Mass Effect.

Steve gets a pretty tame romance apparently. So I'm at least glad they are handling that one maturely (probably for obvious reasons)

Lol! "horny" fans.

If they are going to show a sex scene, do it properly, don't show me a draw of a bee and his seed.

It doesn't matter how genuinely interesting a character or their species may be, if they have boobs and buttocks, they are horny teen bait.

@fropas - It's cool, I wasn't directing anything at you personally. I was just talking in general. BioWare's stuck between the proverbial rock and a hard place.

Personally from what I've seen from trailers and the like, the romance scenes, at least with Ashley, look to be on the same level as say, DA:O. *shrug*

So you've got to see the man pounding the woman in order for you to understand that they're having sex, huh? Nice and subtle.

And you lol when I call them "horny" fans.

one doesn't have to be horny to hate prudeness and such

"nice and subtle" is not always the way to go, especially in case of showing a sex scene (or more like "not showing it and/or not doing it well")

the scene with Liara (or Ashley) overall from ME1 was okay I guess, but seems that since the Fox News report Bioware out of fear or something started to censure itself and restrict thing, instead of working on what they already had, and making it better.

Then again, still better than people scrubbing against each other in undies.(as mentioned earlier by someone else, I also have the feeling they tried to please both fans and keep out of media spotlight, there is a hungarian saying for this "Trying to feed the goat but also keep the lettuce safe" what essencially means doing the impossible)

Due the the growing prudeness in the western world and increase of harsh and stupid laws, I wouldn't be surprised if yes, Bioware would just stopmaking romance and similar scnarios altogether in the future, I liked what they did ever since Baldur's Gate and Jade Empire, but from a business perspective this doesn't seem worth anymore in the near future and will cause just more problems. Sadly, despite that I would like the exact opposite its the more logical scenario.

As for me, I wish if there would be a mature, pirate-themed RPG in the future we wouldn't get to see a sparky, cheery and heroic game world where even the last colonial settlements are full with "upstanding citizens", but a game where developrs dare to properly represent murder, torture, intrigue, ****houses and courtesans, and sex. (instead of all the flowery-fairy tales parents would want their kids to see, if games get a M ratingthey should have to grow up to that ranking finally without fear about what others may say about mature games daring to be mature.)

You jest, but I've sat up nights thinking about it:
If Krogan males have quads.
Do krogan females have four boobs?

Lizards and amphibians don't have mammary glands. Well, Bioware ones probably do.

They probably shouldn't.
