OP appears to think that sex scenes and naked people have to be a part of game romance. I don't think they need to be. I'd rather have a dozen in-depth conversations about our relationship than a sex scene.

For example, my sex scene with Morrigan didn't do anything for me. But the conversations, where she asked me to leave her, to stop loving her, because it hurt to love, and it would break her...that's what made me fall in love with her as a character.

I agree with spirros' (is that the name?) comment up there. If it's appropriate, I don't really have aproblem with it. But I strongly strongly disagree with the notion that it NEEDS to be in a romance.

Too right. There doesn't need to be nudity or explicitvity in games. There can be, of course, and if it's there, great. If it's not there, who cares? Having an M rated game doesn't mean explicit scenes are suddenly a requirement.

I don't remember, honestly i played DA2 just once and half through then uninstalled it (once I realized you essentially have no say in what happens and can't change majority of what will happen, including the life/death of that bloodmage woman and the templar in Act2 I think), most of it I have already forgotten, my bad if they still had it in in a way despite what I wrote. (but on the other hand, if it was just a reused model it shows they don't really plan to do new ones anymore)

Whatever fits in properly with the characters and their relationship is fine, and should be for anyone with half a brain (i.e. no-one in the media). That can range from no physical contact at all to a graphic sex scene, it doesn't matter as long as it fits, and that includes not having nudity just for the sake of it.

Fropas, that's just false. Desire Demons in DA:O were NEVER bare-breasted. They always wore tassles. Always. Unless they were modded on the PC.

DA 2 used the exact same model, albiet in a different artstyle, for the Desire Demon.

I never said that people NEED to be naked. I'm only criticizing that ADULTS aren't getting naked during their love scenes--from a Renegade perspective this "soft-core" approach doesn't work at all.

But I aggree with you and Spiros--the love scenes are good in every emotional aspect (unfortunately the aren't satisfied with the emotional portrayals and depicts ADULTS dry-humping for 30 seconds, but that's cool.)

But here's the problem: it will eventually lead to sex and that is what's on most people's minds when they engage in romantic banter. We all anticipate the outcome - there's no erasing it from the human psyche. What they did with Samara was brilliant, and I fully support it. But they simply cannot do that, or even a fade to black, with every romance. Not in this day and age. It would annoy players.

maybe not, and true, something with romance doesn't need sex too, but as ealier mentioned, I don't really see anything worthy of M rating for the game, they could have released it without any changes with a lower rating too in my opinion, perhaps taken out that less that 5 minute scene would have been necessary, but I really think the M is just there in recent times to label the game as "Major release"

both Witcher games were more mature, even if it didn't take itself seriously, the character cards in Witcher 1 were especially a good idea

Oh please BioWare, don't do anything explicit, keep it tasteful. I would rather have romances that feel more authentic and not being forced to my character because is written in the script.

Just about the only thing that was bare-breasted in DA:O was the broodmother.... and I'm on the fence as to whether that's sexy or not.

I think the point is that most people around here knows how sex works.

So we don't need to see the act, or even parts of the act - like nudity and thrusting to know that sex has happened.

For example, on prime-time network television shows, there aren't that many virgins. Just about all the characters are either having sex or have had sex. But we don't see them having sex, we don't see nudity and we don't see thrusting. Sorry: movement.

Because the audience is smart enough to recognize when sex has happened.

The way I see it is that if all the payoff you get for romancing someone is a brief cutscene, than that cutscenes needs to be worth it. ME1 had it right, no actual explicit content, but enough of a scene that you felt satisfied with that being the climax(pun intended) of the romance side story.

If the game rewarded you in some other way, such as unlocking extra content or giving various bonuses, than the sex scenes wouldn't be particulary important.

Not romantic "banter." Banter is lighthearted and funny. I wasn't grinning when Morrigan was telling me these things. It was a very serious (in-game) moment.

And, that's never been my anticipated outcome in love, thus in my opinion it is not necessary.

Again, my opinion. Don't feel I'm stepping on you merely because we disagree.

Really Morrigan is the example you want to use?

She had more clothes on during her sex scene than the conversations in camp.

In all seriousness though, I agree with you. I really wanted a romance with Wynne, but alas it will never be because she's "too old" for love--just like Samara .

She wasn't, she too had the crotch and nipples covered, even more than the desire demon actually.

If you are going to put out a M game and put in a sex scene for whatever reason, then make it a decent scene. I hate dry humping in movies, as well as games because it just plain looks stupid. No I don't require T,A and P everywhere, but at least make it look real. You can fade to black after getting most of the way there, you can do a ME1 back shot, but please NO MORE SEX SCENES WHERE THE PEOPLE NEVER REMOVE THEIR UNDERWEAR. I wouldn't mind it so much in ME2 and DA2 if they just put them under covers afterward and only showed shoulders, but to have them laying there in underwear like they both got up and put in on to cuddle is stupid.

So basically I feel either show more and do it right, or show less and fade to black at the door with maybe romance talk fading out as well, but the half-way crap needs to go.
