Just curious. Do they have any effect on ME3 at all? Cause I'm still trying to figure out their purpose.

I got all prothean data disks and asari monarch stuff on top of those 2 and noticed nothing. Also had 50000+ resources at end of me2 and only got 25 galactic points for it. Part of the wtf with your choices compaired to the ending that is being talked about.

As far as I know, the only ME1 collectible that does anything is Asari writings.  You give them to Conrad to help him with his war asset contribution.  You also need an elkoss combine license, and I think you need to have completed Gavin Hossle's side mission on Feros.  It's more of a continuity nod than anything, since the war asset he gives you is only like, 5.

The whole plot table for both previous games is still in the gamesave file. It's entirely plausible that DLCs may make use of stuff you did in previous games; For example, if the rumored Omega DLC is for real, how you handled Ish may have an impact. Or how you handled the Patriarch.
