I've done a quick search, and with the search functionality what it is the only similar problems I have been able to come across are ones relating to pathfinding designating incorrect areas are useable.

The problem I am having is that my level pathfinding is showing what I would expect.

But when I finally use the level in a area and then export it to test it in game, I find that my character is able to just wander off into the blackness off the map and there doesn't seem to be a limit to how far out I can go.

I am pretty sure I haven't seen anything in the wiki guides to suggest what is causing this, and was pretty sure that as long as the pathfinding either marked it as red or didn't mark it at all that it couldn't be used by the player ingame....

Was I wrong? What exactly am missing here?

Also the area I have defined is shown in regards to how it treats the outsid.

I noticed that the yellow and red lines do extend off the created map... but would that really make it so my character could run off indefinitely?

Edit: Sorry if this is such a dumb question, but it's been annoying me basic interior maps for aday or so, and now that I can make exteriors as well and they also have the problem it's even more annoying.

Example of the problem is shown here.

What I've done there is I have loaded up one of my test example exteriors and just ran into the far off abyss to show there doesn't seem to be any limit to how far out I can go.

I've also noticed this on some of the premade maps. Just a guess but maybe you need the red dots at the edge to show where the boundary is? I haven't got into setting up my own pathfinding points yet.

Bad level design *grins* Nothing will stop the player from walking off the edge of the level like that. Not to mention it looks strange to allow the player to walk up to the edge of the world. I would recomend changing your level to prevent the player from reaching the edge. But if you really want the player to reach the edge, use the Terrain Blocking tool to build walls around the edge of the level. This wiki section talks some about this, but I'm not finished with that section.

Ah awesome! Thanks for clearing that up Languard.

Though why Bioware would design a system that asks the user to specify effective playable area for that specific level, and then lets them run off that into the abyss and explore beyond that somewhat puzzles me [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/andy.png[/smilie] (I understand visual extention, but being able to run off the map isn't quite visual. hehe).

I had intended to have proper environments once I begin work on something substancial, the only actual thing that was holding that back was this problem when testing basic areas exported for any problems before investing time in something only to find it doesn't work.

Guess I should of just went ahead and not worried. :pinched:
