Miranda dies, but plays a key role in making sure you can take the fight to Cerberus. A major story arc involves the Illusive Man selling out Miranda and Oriana to their father in exchange for a fake refugee sanctuary which is actually funnelling war refugees to the Reapers. I don't think it's possible to save Miranda at all, so Miranda romances are doomed to end in tearful farewells at the end of the mission. And yes, Kai Leng kills her, I believe... but she gets the last laugh by putting a tracker on his ship or something, leading your directly to Cerberus.

according to what i here, this is NOT completely true. you can stop miranda from being killed from what i hear

Yeah, I have heard that you can save Miranda. I'm assuming part of the reason to save your old squadies and play through their "missions" will be to gain war assets... wouldn't make sense if they all died.

 People rave all day long about choice, and when it's presented to them it's deemed unoriginal and tiring. There is just no winning for Bioware.

Miranda can be saved if you play your card correctly. Basically almost every ME2 character will have a chance to get killed if you screw things up, however you will always get a chance to save them.
I suppose the hardest to save will be mordin but, as someone stated, i think that bioware favoured his death to fulfill the whole atonement plot of the character.
And, about EDI's possible death, We will have the option in the endgame... not that I will take that option, I love her new concept!

So then what if Miranda dies in ME2? For some reason there was a glitch with my save game with a male Shepard and I lost Miranda's loyalty after siding with Jack in their argument and was never able to get her loyalty back. My Paragon score was really high and the blue choice didnt show up as blue when I was trying not to take sides and so I was never, ever able to get her loyalty back and she died in the SM.

Yea thats interesting happened to my friend with Tali and Legion in their argument. The thing honestly that is probably the most troubling with me is that Tali and Garrus are squadmates. This is really cool in a sense that yes we can have them in the squad again but personally its like if they died that really sucks for some people as their squad is going to be short handed. Idk I am just bummed about the choices of squad members for this game.

I know they wanted things to be intimate but still it kinda sucks. I am still very much excited for ME3 though.
