Is it just me or is this game stingy with money? How can  I fix this problem?

Do side quests. There are a handful that pay really well. Even the small ones add up.



Don't spend too much money on potions, consumables, etc. Craft them.



Don't spend money unless you have to. Save it. You can buy several of the really good items later, but you won't get everything.



Loot everything you can and sell it.



Steal.

Tough it out until about level 15. The money will start pouring in, trust me.
