It seems a lot of the information on how to work the overland map system from Storm of Zehir was either lost or never released. I figured it would be a good idea to accumulate some knowledge in one thread.

See: NX2 tutorial: Overland Map. There's also a few notes on p. 106, vol. 1 of the toolset notes, linked below. I think somebody (Knightmare?) was working on a more comprehensive guide.

The guide is fairly decent. I do know
they left out some information on the creature spawning. Off hand I
can't remember what it was they left out but I believe it was
waypoint placement. It was on the old board.......

Yeah, I had a very long and detailed thread on the OM, that Bioware destroyed. There are several good OM examples for use on the vault that have things setup and working. Look up the Cormyr OM on the Vault.
To my knowledge, there is no documentation about goodies and special OM encounters as they work in SoZ.
