I've played/loved ME1 & 2 exclusively on Xbox. I own them on PC, but my heart belongs to the 360 experience. Which leads to my problem/question. It started with ME2, and will most likely continue in ME3. Multiple discs. I install discs of frequently played games to my hard drive. Can't we have a PC-like experience, in that, if all discs are installed, then as long as the "play" disc is in the drive, we won't have to swap discs? Obviously, I realize it's lazy to not want to walk from the couch to the entertainment center, but it really does take me out of the game. If this has changed in ME3, please let me know (dev or player). Thanks!

This currently impossible because Microsoft won't allow it.

It is working with Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition but this is because the second disc holds only the DLC which will be installed to your hard drive (instead of you downloading it from Xbox Live). I guess you have to keep on changing discs. But it isn't that bad. In Mass Effect 2 it was well done, IMO.

Yeah, just a minor nuisance, really. But, one thing for certain, in ME2, I never understood why the endgame was on the first disc...

Having the disc that the content you are currently playing was installed from is part of the 360 DRM there is nothing that can be done about this. I know there is a way round it as Castlevainia Lords of Shadow did it but this is down to the developer

Thank Bill Gates who decided that games wouldn't surpass the size of dvd's in the lifetime of the 360.

no it doesn't help. you still have to switch discs. not too much of a problem if you don't mind getting up, a real problem if you do because of game breaking immersion.

I just had to swap discs after 4 successive missions.
mission, swap, mission, swap, mission, swap, mission, swap.
This has got to change!
2 disc swaps in the entirety of ME2 and now we have this? Why?!

Yeah, seems like the majority of side missions are on the opposite disc of the main missions. This has to be one of the most ridiculous disc swapping I've ever witnessed. Bioware, why couldn't you just follow ME2's example with a minimum of 2 disc swaps? I've changed discs 6 times now in my 15 hours of gameplay...

I don't generally have a problem changing discs, because usally its done only after a certain point. However my first introduction to ME3 was as soon as I had control over where I went, I went to do an N7 mission and had to swap discs. You'd have thought if it was introduced at the beginning it would be on disc 1!

Arise, vile thread, from the depths! Nice necro.
On topic; the disc swapping seems to involve any of the N7 missions, at least if you're on disc 1 story-wise.

I only remember having to swap the discs a lot more often than with ME2. It wasn't like after every single mission, but often enough to annoy me and kick me out of the gaming experience.
But I indeed asked myself, why I installed the game on my harddrive, if I still have to swap the discs. Don't know if this is really Microsoft's fault or just carelessness on the developers side, but it sure is annoying. And in either case another example of how paying customers always have to bear the discomfort of DRM mechanisms (like the annoying FBI screen on any purchased DVD, that often enough even can't be skipped by pushing the skip button on your remote), while those things are one of the first items that usually get kicked by the hackers and crackers. But being a software developer myself, I am obviously dumb enough to continue buying Games and DVDs and suffer through those issues, because I believe in supporting intellectual property nonetheless.
