Well old boy George R.R Martin says he's largely happy with the game:

http://www.vg247.com...comment-page-1/

I guess they've nailed the story right at least if the god damn author of the books is happy with it. Gameplay is another thing but it sounds like Old Georgie Boy played the game and enjoyed it. He says he's into thinking games (like RTS games) more than shooter games.

Doesn't mean the game could be good gameplay-wise but I'm certain the story should at least be somewhat good.

The more gameplay videos I see the more I wish CDPRojekt was allowed to handle the rpg game.

Any German speakers able to explain what the hell the guy is saying?

Not sold. Looks like a cheap movie adaptation game. Too bad for Martin cause I'm sure he deserves better. Since TW2 has pretty much cornered the whole adult and gritty fantasy setting, I don't think they'd escape CDPR's shadow even if it were good.

Eh... It doesn't look very immersive. It's kind of hard to tell that it's Game of Thrones related at all, just like the other Cyanide game. It's almost like it was made by people who aren't actually fans of the books/show.

I'll still buy it but I may be holding off for a while.

Loved the novels so much I'd probably buy this game even if it was total crap. Fortunately it looks at least halfway decent.

Now if only I knew what that German guy was saying...

Not to be cynical, but you know he is likely earning royalties based on sales of the game, right?

The best of my Deutschgot you this much

-The role playing game Game Of Thrones based on the novels
-In this video we'll examine the gameplay mechanics
-In this game you'll get to play with your own dog
-You'll be able to use a menu to strategize attacks, up to three at a time
-Then he goes on to talk about gameplay sections using the Dire Wolf
-The dire wolf will be able to attack but inventory interaction isn't useable in this mode
-You can hotkey certain talents to equip them faster
-Once you level up past a certain point, there is a talent to use your Dire Wolf for an "instant kill"
-Skill trees evolve once you level up
-They utilize a dialogue wheel similar to Bioware's
-You'll recognize familiar elements and characters from the story Game Of Thrones

Game of Thrones was developed by French developer Cyanide, and will only carry a 15 rating despite including "a sequence in which the player-controlled character is tortured in a dungeon."

"The duration of the torture is dependent on the player's responses to the questions asked," reveals the ratings board's listing. "The torture includes being beaten across the back with a cudgel, having a toenail pulled (without any clear detail), being burned on the back with a red hot iron bar and having an eye removed (again without detail)."

I honestly kind of expect this game to be a let down, but I still pre-ordered it. Here's to hoping Cyanide does a good job on the game!

I don't expect it to be on par with games like Dragon Age: Origins, in fact I don't know what to expect yet. I expect the game to get average and maybe a few good reviews. It all boils down to the story, gameplay, character interaction and choices succeeding. I hear Cyanide have failed with many games but surely even a bad-average developer can produce something good once in a while. I have heard that at least two of their games have been liked by those that have played them.

Confrontation was their most recent game it failed. Hopefully this game - which has potential - doesn't.

I expect it to be on a lotr war in the north level of game overall. If not lower. Would love to be surprised though. :)

lotr:war in the north does indeed seem like it's ceiling. GRRM knows nothing about games, thats why Cyanide was able to license it. They made the tour de france games, and cycling manager.

He could have given it to a more established developer like Paradox (maker of Sengoku and Crusader Kings and/or Taleworlds (maker of Mount and Blade). If not those, I'm sure creative assembly would love to take another shot into the RPG world, and would have the resources to do it.

Those are some companies that would have realistically done it. The fanboy in me would have loved Obsidian or CDPR get in on it, but I know that would have been a pipedream.

Oh well, I'll keep an eye on it, and hopefully it turns out good. I'll get it when prices go down.

War in The North was pretty decent and the combat was good. This on the other hand looks as though the combat is a poor imitation of Origins but it could turn to play good for all we know. I don't think Taleworlds would have been suited for a game like this. I don't want another Mount and Blade (warband and With Fire and Sword didn't feel different. They felt like mods which should have been free) game that doesn't improve upon the original.

Obsidian would have launched the game with bugs. No thanks. Feargus Urquhart is still throwing broken copies of Fallout: New Vegas at me. It's amazing to think that these guys developed Planescape and the original Fallout games.

CDPR on the other hand would have probably did good by it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->

Ignore the line above. It's just another broken copy of New Vegas that missed me. Feargus is such a poor shot.

I'm waiting for reviews.

Here's a 13 minute walkthrough:

The walthrough ends with the player getting killed. It does look like there is a lot of emphasis on being tactical and planning your strategy before entering a fight. The abilities all each do different things akin to Dragon Age: Origins and Mors has one ability which stuns enemies within a small area range which would obviously allow for a companion to perform a more offensive attack while the enemy has their defense down.

The dialogue system doesn't seem to offer much depth as there's only two dialogue choices to choose from but the choices didn't seem to be just dialogue choices which changed what Mors said, the choices also seem to have actions accociated with them and look like they effect the way the rest of the conversation plays out. For example you encounter some dying soldier who had tried to abandoned the Night's Watch and you can choose how Mors reacts to the guy whether it's positive or negative.

So you seem to be able to influence the character's personality and views somewhat.

Asides from the radial menu that allows access to abilities there's also another radial menu outside of combat that allows you to quickly access your inventory along with several other options (didn't see what they were though). I think there's a codex based on the gameplay preview I posted day ago up above. I hope there is because people like me who know nothing of the universe could quickly find out certain things with a codex.

I don't think it will be good because the curse of the adaptation game is still as strong as ever.

Another walkthrough which is 30 minutes long:

http://www.gamesrada...nes-video-demo/

It mostly shows the start of the game so there's lots of dialogue and cut scenes. Mors does get to choose from three dialogue options at one point so I guess dialogue options depend on the circumstances.
