Just decided to cancel pre-order. It's all very hush, hush.. and I'm more than a little skeptical after watching the videos you posted (Elton John). Plus.. the fact that the guy repeatedly says "IT'S A REAL RPG!"... haha. I'm going to wait until first week reviews and then figure out.. I figured the art book isn't enough to justify a first day buy.

Well it's out in America on May 15th so we'll get to see some impressions and reviews then.

That seems like they will have some impressive concurrence on release (Diablo 3.......).

But looks like an interesting game, although I doubt they can even be remotely as good as the novels.

I had a feeling Game of Thrones would be a bad game. They really are just trying to cash in on the show.

The only things they criticized was the combat and the fact that the story was 'too depressing'.

The former's not a big deal for me and the latter is a massive plus, so really I'm quite optimistic for this.

Same, I think ASOIAF fans will probably enjoy it a lot more than most will though as it does seem rough round the edges. But I'm still looking forward to playing it for myself.

IGN gave it 4/10 too. The graphics and character models are down right ugly and it's clear this game is a lazy work and lack of polish.  Funny that the developer said they started to make the game 7 years ago. The combat looks bad too.  those pseudo D20 RPGs are fun because of party managing, but this game has no party, just two characters so all you do is sit there, issue commands and watch they fight.  A rather boring game

Fair enough if you think that but I really want to get my hands on the story which is apparently very good and the combat is looking pretty good IMO, similar to DAO. Not really bothered about graphics and I doubt it's as glitchy as a Bethesda game =P

how is this game similiar to DAO despite game mechanics? It has no party managing. You can only use two characters.

Similar combat mechanics, character progression and a deep story. Pretty much what I look for in an RPG.

Yeah that RPGfan review is more positive and praises the combat.

@suntzuxi

You use three characters. Mors, Alester and the dog and you can use abilities as all three of them while managing their skills and inventory. Both Alester and Mors have three classes too.

---

Unsure about the game after the negative reviews and the game does seem to have some bad voice acting from what I've seen of the Let's Play of the game on YouTube. Still the combat does look somewhat enjoyable and those reviews all state that you should enjoy the story if you can get past the bad voice acting for many characters.

Well I handled Two Worlds and that had atrocious voice acting, I'm sure I could probably play through this game. Either way it's a bargain bin buy if I even decide to buy it at all. More good reviews could come out for the game but I won't be rushing to buy it simply because Dragon's Dogma comes out May 25th.

Looking forward to see what the user reviews for this game is on Gamespot.

Probably wise to wait a little while. Being in the UK I have to wait until June 1st so that's plenty of time to see the majority of reviews for the game before I hand over any money for it. Maight be that I wait a few weeks for the price to drop a bit.

Eh, the reviews are enough.

Pass.

Now if only they can get a AAA developer to do it.

Or hell, maybe just CD Projekt Red.

When you have to point out the positive reviews out of a sea of negative ones, I think that tells the whole story, hahaha.

Game failed.

Not trying to defend the game here. I've posted all 4 reviews so far. 2 positive and 2 negatives.

Actully from one of the above comments I would love to see a GoT's RTS.

As to this game. I'm "ehh" on it. Games with that formula of a TV show often fail and rarely are good. I just have to wait and see on it really.

After browsing a few reviews... I am really glad I cancelled my preorder. I'll probably consider picking the title up for the story when the price is bumped down by a lot.

What a shame.

No really, game looks like it had some great ideas to go with the license. Depending how the rest of the reviews come out (I'm hoping RPS do a 'wot i think') I may still pick this up down the road, just because I love me some ASoIaF.

Still think it's a shame we probably won't see the three ASoIaF games that should exist: 1) A turn based strategy heavily focused on diplomacy, backstabbing, families etc. (some mods sorta do this)  2) a sandbox RPG taking after the Elder Scrolls games (almost no developer would do this nowadays, they are either too big to do licensed work, or have too little money) 3) A decent MMO based on the license (yeah I know one is in the works, but you just know it won't be any good). I would mention a cinematic, BioWare/CDP style RPG, but I guess that's what this is.

And yeah, somehow I managed to post just a W originally haha.
