 Hello.
I bought the digital version of Mass Effect 2 DDE (that is, not the retail phisycal one) through Origin and I'm have a big problem when i try to install it.
Yesterday the game installer finished downloading. The installer turned out to be one folder named Disk 1, even though when i started to download it, it said the disk space required was 22GB approx. and the mentioned Disk 1 folder just occupied 10.8GB (a fact i had noticed befoore it finished downloading because it was the size the download bar showed)
Now, when i tried to install the game at some point i was asked to insert disk 2. No disk 2 folder was ever downloaded, nor had i the possibility to download it anywhere, so it was kind of impossible to finish the installation.
I asked origin live chat for help and they couldn't solve the problem. I even think they didn't get what the problem was/is. One of the solutions they gave me was to eliminate the installer. Obviously that didn't work.
I now have no disk 2 folder and no disk 1 folder cause i eliminated it following the advice.
Before i eliminated it, i checked disk 1 folder and the readme file said that in order to install the digital version of ME2 i had to contact the ones i had bought it from, which would be the Origin online store, so as to be instructed on how to do it.
I contacted them and they keep telling me to reinstall Origin and similar stuff that isn't working.

Any ideas?

do you have the origin client on your machine??

IF so then put the license key into Origin client and see if it will dl and install the game for you.

I would suggest you contact EA Help and get them to delete the mass effect 2 Deluxe icon from your Origin Client My Game tab. Uninstall yur origin client and reinstall the latest updated version. Then try redeem code again from origin client, or contact EA Help further if you need further input. Best check you put the download cachefolder on a spacious disk different from you os harddisk.

I have the same problem too. Bought the Mass Effect 2 DDE through origin. Origin only download the installer folder Disk1 but during the installation the installer ask for Disk2.
Anyone found the solution to this problem?

Not yet. I unistalled Origin manually and eliminated all trace of it as instructed by EA. Then i installed the latest version. Now I'm redownloading the game to see if it solves the problem. More than 10 hours to go.

The game installed fine finally for me. You are not supposed to have a disk 2 folder.

Ok. Thank you. I guess some files are corrupt.

Yeah, what I did on my third time downloading the game was to desactivate the windows option for the computer to go on stand by mode and it downloaded everything fine.

He meant, I think, don't let your computer go into sleep mode or deactivate the HD in energy saving practices. Make sure it stays awake and fully functional during the dl.

All right. Third time lucky. I could finally download it correctly.

If it helps anyone, what I did to download it and avoid any kind of corrupt files were the following steps:
- I deactivated both the firewall and antivirus before downloading.
- I deactivated all of the hibernation and save energy options.
- I downloaded it on one go, that is, I started it and left the computer on till it finished, without pausing it.

I find that there is nothing wrong with the ea download, just don't interrupt the download too many times, and don't do heavy multitasking meanwhile and let it download at least 5 mins before you like to pause if you prefer. Also do not pause and start many times in-between short pauses, preferably let it all download in one session, and all will be alright. That is all i need to get the game to install fully without any hitches or errors showing at all! Cheers!

I am having the same issue where Origin is only downloading 10.8 GB of data not the 22 GB it tells you it will at the start. I have uninstalled Origin. Deleted all caches and removed registry entries as per EA's own full removal of origin guide and followed all other advice on this thread and still no luck.

Why is ME2 on Origin so broken?

Having problems too >.< it's downloading only 10.8 instead of the 22 gb it says at start. Also there isn't even a Mass Effect 2 folder where it's supposed to be... it's download it and I've no idea where it's putting it in (I'm downloading another game from origin at the same time and everything is fine for that one).

This is a tech forum in which gamers discuss GAME problems. There is no Bioware or EA oversight here. There is no topic involving the failure of the web site to perform as promised that is covered here. The game is not the web site and the web site is not the game.

I know is not a page to talk about the client or the page, I just want to try and see if someone has managed to resolve this problem and if he/she has, to share how they didi it so the people who can't play manage to install the game. :)

You need somewhere that people are actually in attendance. Ten months ago, almost the entire social forum population left, as is common for game forums in the spring. This past fall, only the Off-Topic and ME-3 forums built back up to strong activity levels. This forum isn't nearly as dead as the ME-1 tech forum and the DA-2 tech forum, but there really isn't much of anyone here.

Personally, if it doesn't come on a DVD disk, I don't buy it. I have zero experience with digital downloads the last few years.

It requires 22GB during INSTALLATION, not for the game itself: the 10.8 GB is the installation data and kept on disk until the game is finished installing. The game takes up another 12.6 GB - so in fact you need over 23GB during installation. The installer is then deleted, unless you changed the option in your settings.
