What about that one time when Vasir called Liara a pure blood ****?
I don't recall people being offended.

I'm sorry. I just can't help myself. I'm so, so sorry.

The new romance options, tthe same gender ones i understand is to appease lots the fans, which im cool with, as long as it is not forced upon us, Ex. Anders from DA2.

For future reference, if you're going to include something as an example, you might want to pick something that's actually the same as whatever you're arguing it's an example of.

Anders wasn't forced on you. He says, "Hey dude you're pretty hot wanna get together" and you can respond with "Nah it's cool let's just be professional" and that's the end of that.

Unless you're objecting to the existence of gay/bisexual people being "forced" upon you. In which case I would invite you to grow up.

Just put a profanity filter in game that can be turned on and off.

On for most of the people on this earth.

Off for Ned Flanders and his family.

Bioware appeases minorities over the majority all the time, I don't see why this would be different... +1

I get a bullet in me, I'll be swearing like a sailor.

Censoring real reactions to getting deathly hurt seems kiddish. It would be unreal, unhumanlike, if they said something less offensive.

I'll love to see a real person get a bullet in them and say "Gosh Darn IT!!!" It ain't going to happen.

Some games have the option to mute curse words & turn off gore like Gears of War so I'me sure its doable but its just something else the developers would have to devote time to implement. To be fair though ME is pretty light on "offensive" language compared to most contemporary games out right now, I belive I can count on my hands how many times the F-bomb was dropped in both 1 & 2(think mostly in 2 thanks to Jack :P)

If it gets changed to tiddlywinks I think I might punch something, What does it matter if a HUMAN who may not be religious uses it in vain it's a phrase. I personally don't care for profuse swearing in music but I don't get disappointed when someone saliorfies a song and as much I would to think it goddammit seems pretty small potatoes all things considered. Now if I had to sit through an eight minute interactive cutscene of the SpaceCLU trying to crush religion in all forms and you get the moral choice of condemning or defending religion I could see where you're coming from. It's a phrase that people use religious or otherwise.

P.S. I would prefer if they said consarnit and oh geez personally.

swearing is common place in adult society and as this game is aimed at a mature audience it is appropriate for the use of harsh language as it helps provide grounding to the universe.

Playing devil's advocate to those with the realism argument:

Wouldn't romance options gain some realism by being either homosexual or heterosexual and not all being bisexual?

That was my main issue with Dragon Age II.

Doesn't mean realism should be totaly thrown away because it is in that cause as well.

Good point still, still bugs me when I replay Dragon Age II.

Actually, in afghanistan, one of my colleagues had an IED explode about 6 feet from him, he caught some shrapnel. What he shouted was:

"A- OK
 B- OK
C- My leg hurts, gimme some dope!"

And thats about it :) We had a laugh about it and still tease him with it :P

How is "goddamnint" offensive? If you got shot, I'm sure the first thing you'll be saying won't be "*Gets hit* Oh sassafrass, sassafrass, sassafrass". Because I know the first thing I would be saying is "Oh, ****! ****! Goddamnit!"

Lmao actually laughed at this:lol:! Anyway I feel the same way someone said something similar about the against all odds trailer awhile ago when Dan Vega yelled out "Oh Sh*t!" when a reaper appeared which seems like a natural reaction to me. And as someone who generally avoids cursing my last thought when I get hurt is to keep it PG for anyone who might be listening.

They could always recruit/clone grow/whatever they did when making their spontaneously huge army people solely from Victorian England. That might solve it?

"I dare say, I appear to have been inflicted with a grievous wound to my personage! It may even be fatal given inadequate medical attention. How bally inconvenient."
"Rather poor show, forsooth."

Alright so the Bioware aproach is to appease the fans. Thats good and all,

The new romance options, tthe same gender ones i understand is to appease lots the fans, which im cool with, as long as it is not forced upon us, Ex. Anders from DA2.

But after playing the Multiplayer, I've noticed that some of the enemies will say things like 'Goddammit', which to me and i'm sure lots of people find it offensive.

I know someone can say 'Well killing is against your belief's too. So play something else'. But of course you can't take that out of ME, cause it would be a totally different game.

Things like some 1-liner phrases can be changed, and if not in ME3, hopefully in future games. I'm just another fan who wants to continue to play Bioware games without having to listen to these lines.

I dont see whats so offensive about saying god dammit.

I'm not sure if you're trolling or just way too protective of god, who, if you'll remember, is omnipotent, and as such, can fight his own battles.

Guys its a completely understandable concern, even if it doesnt matter to some of us.

Of course, but people like the OP (and some minorities) need to realize that words only have the power you give to them. The OP sees the word as offensive, for his own reasons, but that does not mean the game should be catered to his sensibilities. A bit of minor swearing maintains a sense of realism; I know I'd probably exclaim worse things if I got shot.

I completely agree, if they started to edit the game down to the last detail so it wouldnt offend anyone, then it wouldnt be near as realistic. Besides, the "god" part of it may not specifically mean god, its a common swear that ppl use.

Still, I understand his concern. Maybe in future games there can be a "censor" option so the player can decide whether or not they want to hear those things, sorta like how some games have an option to turn off "gore" like in Resident Evil or whatever.

I just love how people nitpick on some things and appear offended over things that could easily be attributed to artistic license or something like that. Op if you are offended by a phrase that has been established in real life then you should start with real life...dunno sue someone...
But more importantly, if it is a religious issue I wonder if your religion is tolerant of you playing such games with so much violence and (oh dear!) some homosexual content.

Oh! and I am sure you have never used that phrase in your life.

That's pretty funny. Cool story. Hope he's alright though.

I should say 'most' people. Heck I swear when I broke my arm, even if I just bang my toe into something.

Though, I guess I can't account for most. So - I would.

I forgot my point now.....

Oh yea, I still say it would be a tad unrealitisic. But, not true for everyone.

Well it is an M-Rated game, so language just comes with it.

It doesn't bother me, but everyone is different and everyone can point towards one aspect of the game they don't like. Language is just one of those many aspects of the game.

That's fine, options are great - but only when they don't consume development time that could be used elsewhere. It's really up to the company to decide how to use its resources, and while the OP believes such a simple language filter would be no problem for BioWare, in reality, only BioWare knows.
