Bioware. Honest question about appeasing the fans.

I don't recall people being offended.

For future reference, if you're going to include something as an example, you might want to pick something that's actually the same as whatever you're arguing it's an example of.Ryuukosusei wrote...
The new romance options, tthe same gender ones i understand is to appease lots the fans, which im cool with, as long as it is not forced upon us, Ex. Anders from DA2.

Unless you're objecting to the existence of gay/bisexual people being "forced" upon you. In which case I would invite you to grow up.

Censoring real reactions to getting deathly hurt seems kiddish. It would be unreal, unhumanlike, if they said something less offensive.
I'll love to see a real person get a bullet in them and say "Gosh Darn IT!!!" It ain't going to happen.

Anders wasn't forced on you. He says, "Hey dude you're pretty hot wanna get together" and you can respond with "Nah it's cool let's just be professional" and that's the end of that.

And the OP has never been hit on by a guy before.

Playing devil's advocate to those with the realism argument:
Wouldn't romance options gain some realism by being either homosexual or heterosexual and not all being bisexual?
That was my main issue with Dragon Age II.
Doesn't mean realism should be totaly thrown away because it is in that cause as well.
Good point still, still bugs me when I replay Dragon Age II.

Actually, in afghanistan, one of my colleagues had an IED explode about 6 feet from him, he caught some shrapnel. What he shouted was:
"A- OK
B- OK
C- My leg hurts, gimme some dope!"
And thats about it

How is "goddamnint" offensive? If you got shot, I'm sure the first thing you'll be saying won't be "*Gets hit* Oh sassafrass, sassafrass, sassafrass". Because I know the first thing I would be saying is "Oh, ****! ****! Goddamnit!"
Lmao actually laughed at this:lol:! Anyway I feel the same way someone said something similar about the against all odds trailer awhile ago when Dan Vega yelled out "Oh Sh*t!" when a reaper appeared which seems like a natural reaction to me. And as someone who generally avoids cursing my last thought when I get hurt is to keep it PG for anyone who might be listening.

"I dare say, I appear to have been inflicted with a grievous wound to my personage! It may even be fatal given inadequate medical attention. How bally inconvenient."
"Rather poor show, forsooth."

Alright so the Bioware aproach is to appease the fans. Thats good and all,
The new romance options, tthe same gender ones i understand is to appease lots the fans, which im cool with, as long as it is not forced upon us, Ex. Anders from DA2.
But after playing the Multiplayer, I've noticed that some of the enemies will say things like 'Goddammit', which to me and i'm sure lots of people find it offensive.
I know someone can say 'Well killing is against your belief's too. So play something else'. But of course you can't take that out of ME, cause it would be a totally different game.
Things like some 1-liner phrases can be changed, and if not in ME3, hopefully in future games. I'm just another fan who wants to continue to play Bioware games without having to listen to these lines.
I dont see whats so offensive about saying god dammit.
I'm not sure if you're trolling or just way too protective of god, who, if you'll remember, is omnipotent, and as such, can fight his own battles.

Guys its a completely understandable concern, even if it doesnt matter to some of us.
Of course, but people like the OP (and some minorities) need to realize that words only have the power you give to them. The OP sees the word as offensive, for his own reasons, but that does not mean the game should be catered to his sensibilities. A bit of minor swearing maintains a sense of realism; I know I'd probably exclaim worse things if I got shot.
I completely agree, if they started to edit the game down to the last detail so it wouldnt offend anyone, then it wouldnt be near as realistic. Besides, the "god" part of it may not specifically mean god, its a common swear that ppl use.
Still, I understand his concern. Maybe in future games there can be a "censor" option so the player can decide whether or not they want to hear those things, sorta like how some games have an option to turn off "gore" like in Resident Evil or whatever.

But more importantly, if it is a religious issue I wonder if your religion is tolerant of you playing such games with so much violence and (oh dear!) some homosexual content.
Oh! and I am sure you have never used that phrase in your life.

That's pretty funny. Cool story. Hope he's alright though.
I should say 'most' people. Heck I swear when I broke my arm, even if I just bang my toe into something.
Though, I guess I can't account for most. So - I would.
I forgot my point now.....
Oh yea, I still say it would be a tad unrealitisic. But, not true for everyone.

It doesn't bother me, but everyone is different and everyone can point towards one aspect of the game they don't like. Language is just one of those many aspects of the game.

That's fine, options are great - but only when they don't consume development time that could be used elsewhere. It's really up to the company to decide how to use its resources, and while the OP believes such a simple language filter would be no problem for BioWare, in reality, only BioWare knows.
