Bioware. Honest question about appeasing the fans.

I get a bullet in me, I'll be swearing like a sailor.
Censoring real reactions to getting deathly hurt seems kiddish. It would be unreal, unhumanlike, if they said something less offensive.
I'll love to see a real person get a bullet in them and say "Gosh Darn IT!!!" It ain't going to happen.
Actually, in afghanistan, one of my colleagues had an IED explode about 6 feet from him, he caught some shrapnel. What he shouted was:
"A- OK
B- OK
C- My leg hurts, gimme some dope!"
And thats about itWe had a laugh about it and still tease him with it
That's pretty funny. Cool story. Hope he's alright though.
I should say 'most' people. Heck I swear when I broke my arm, even if I just bang my toe into something.
Though, I guess I can't account for most. So - I would.
I forgot my point now.....
Oh yea, I still say it would be a tad unrealitisic. But, not true for everyone.
You're right, all the others I treated as a medic were cussing quite a bit, at least untill they got some morphine
On a sidenote, he's fine now, otherwise we wouldn't be teasing him with it

I dont see whats so offensive about saying god dammit.
I'm not sure if you're trolling or just way too protective of god, who, if you'll remember, is omnipotent, and as such, can fight his own battles.
I keep telling people at church this. I mean, I don't say it, and I prefer other people not to simply as a matter of respect for others, but it's no big deal. I'm sure the Big Guy's heard it all before.

Guys its a completely understandable concern, even if it doesnt matter to some of us.
Of course, but people like the OP (and some minorities) need to realize that words only have the power you give to them. The OP sees the word as offensive, for his own reasons, but that does not mean the game should be catered to his sensibilities. A bit of minor swearing maintains a sense of realism; I know I'd probably exclaim worse things if I got shot.
I completely agree, if they started to edit the game down to the last detail so it wouldnt offend anyone, then it wouldnt be near as realistic. Besides, the "god" part of it may not specifically mean god, its a common swear that ppl use.
Still, I understand his concern. Maybe in future games there can be a "censor" option so the player can decide whether or not they want to hear those things, sorta like how some games have an option to turn off "gore" like in Resident Evil or whatever.
That's fine, options are great - but only when they don't consume development time that could be used elsewhere. It's really up to the company to decide how to use its resources, and while the OP believes such a simple language filter would be no problem for BioWare, in reality, only BioWare knows.
No. Having options for that kind of thing is just stupid. OP needs to suck it up.
Cerberus is a group trying to make sure humans come out on top no matter what. They kidnap newborn children, they murder Alliance admirals, they use Thresher Maws to wipe out whole units of Alliance soldiers. Making them god-fearing enough to not say god dammit doesnt fit with their entire outlook.

How is "goddamnint" offensive? If you got shot, I'm sure the first thing you'll be saying won't be "*Gets hit* Oh sassafrass, sassafrass, sassafrass". Because I know the first thing I would be saying is "Oh, ****! ****! Goddamnit!"
Luckily I've never been shot before but I've been unfortunate enough to recieve shrapnel on more than one occasion and the last thing I did was curse God, I was actually more thankful it wasnt worse, but that's just how I handled it. Cursing isn't something that offends me, I've cursed plenty in the past but it's something I strive not to do now, I've noticed the less of it I hear the less I catch myself nearly dropping f-bombs.
Games of the past had plenty of gore/blood and language filters and custom keymapping but those are features that would allow the consumer to have a custom experience, but customization is clearly unreasonable to some.

Saying 'God damn it' isnt even cursing god. You are imploring god to damn something, not damning god.

The only issue is that it can be perceived as taking the Lord's name in vain, which is obviously against one of the Ten Commandments. I don't necessarily view it as such, and Operative, I respect your reaction and effort to swear less. While it may or may not be "wrong", it's certainly not tasteful. Like the Internet really cares, though

Some people are being really offensive about this. No matter your religion or beliefs being kind and respecting someone should be apart of EVERYONES agenda. No need to hate. As far as the OP's post goes maybe he just wanted to give the developers a heads up.
Agreed, as ridiculous this may seem to some, ppl unleashing their inner tourretes guy and flaming/trolling/insulting the OP just because they dont agree with him doesnt help anyone. Grow the hell up ppl.
Honestly, I thought it was silly some didnt like the "No Russian" leval in MW2(I still understood why regardless), but the optional filter didnt bother me.
If encouraging Bioware to do the same later on for language, why is it such a big deal?

I suppose i didn't clarify that. I understand not everyone is Christian and I'm not saying your opinions are bad. I'm not surprised to get this much hate on a topic, but the whole 'homosexual' relationship thing was also a minority, so why is my opinion so bad too you people?
Its not like I'm asking a lot.

Because even if you skipped No Russian, it still happened in the storyline. Making Cerberus softer and not as swear-happy doesnt fit with their image at all. It'd be like making Grunt a pacifist.

I don't like hearing cursing, but you can either ignore it and do your best to not absorb it, or shut yourself off from it completely, which means not playing the game. The one thing you can't do is stop other people from saying it, it's just not going to happen in this day and age. It's already a part of the common lexicon.Ryuukosusei wrote...
My gripe isn't swearing, im ok with that. Its cursing against God's name that is offensive. Its not a hard thing to leave out of a game.

Not a lot, but you are asking to make the game worse. I find your tastes annoying, and I don't want to see them gratified in any media property that I'm interested in.

....right. No Russian was an entire leval, this is even less than that, we're only talking about the language being used.
It is still an M rated game, so I very much doubt that they would change an entire factions image just to suit the filter.
