Didn't you people pay attention?

Bigger, more intense, and even sexier

All of that was referring to what you will see in the new romances!

I'd rather they spend the resources on more dialog than sex animations.

That's what it comes down to for me.

Apparently there's sideboob in this game so certain people will be happy.

Sideboob starts wars you know, corrupts children, kills homeless people.

Damn you side boob. TO HELL.

I know. Further evidence they hate the fans.

If someone can complain and get rid of one more nuisance they dislike...all the better for them at the unknown expense of others.
Why should parents bother making an effort being parents anyways? Its just easier to complain about television and games and other products than trying to control your child or do any kind of research.

Eh.. they already have the sex animations setup. It wouldn't cost them anything. A modder in his basement could replace the bra with actual skin in a few hours.

Mass Effect is a porno isn't it? Why are people complaining about the story so much?

Should've worded it diferently. I meant sex scenes becoming more explicit.

But that's besides my point, there's really no need for them to be so. The scenes should be about the romantic feelings of the characters.

Sex is an inevitable part of romance. At least for adults. Where do you think these "romantic feelings" lead to?

Of course it does, I'm not saying it isn't. I'm not really bringing my point across well here.

StonedVolus wrote...
Now now, I'm not saying nudity can't be done tastefully. However, we as gamers can not interpret it as tasteful. Maybe once gaming fanbases mature I'd be fine with seeing more explicit love scenes.

I can interpret it. Tons of other people can interpret it... Who has trouble with it? People who have never seen an R rated movie? I don't get it.

From what I've seen, you're a pretty mature person. Sadly, the majority of the gaming community isn't. They're outclassed in mental capacity and maturity by pre-schoolers. Until the community can grow, the art can't. People outside the industry will simply see the reactions of all the horny teenagers and judge everything based on that.

Mainstream gaming can be artistic with adult matters, but until the fandom accepts that and reacts accordingly, then games will be held back. Now I understand that these types of fans are in every medium, however in gaming it's much more apparant. In the first Terminator, there is a sex scene which is actually pretty good from an artistic perspective, and it's often viewed as such. But with sex in games, everybody is just going to be thinking about "dat ass" and innuendos. Games like Heavy Rain, despite how artisitic they can be, still have those fans. And in my opinion, the industry can't move forward until we move forward.

Story is important but it's not all there is to a video game.. Maybe a book.

Apart from the Miranda scene, the ME2 romance scenes were fine. Miranda I had a problem with because they were clearly getting bizzay, but still had all their clothes on. It just wasn't very believable. It could have used more nudity, but not in a Witcher 2 "omg boobies = mature" way.

The Ashley scene in ME3 that we get a small peek of in the launch trailer seems right in the zone. Believable and tasteful... that's all I ask for.

Well, that's a fair point of view. To be honest I don't think those people will ever go away. Some will mature and some will stay the same. But more importantly they will always be replaced by a younger generation full of... developing gamers.

The only hope I can see is making a game for adults. But that's not something I expect from a game on a large publisher who markets at everyone despite the M rating. It might take a badass indie game to come in and break the status quo. Bioware is pretty much "part of the establishment" now, so I don't expect them to innovate in that manner... But I still don't have to approve.

Probably not wise to judge a three-quarter second long snippet.

y'know if I bought a porn where they had sex with their underwear onImage IPB I'd complain if the story didn't address the issue.

But hey if you think adults dry-humping is good for the story, then more power to ya.

Bioware approaches sex and sexuality like a horny teenager. Especially in Mass Effect. There is a reason it took three games to get S/S romances for a male Shepard.

Totally disagree with this. It starts with the devs, not the fans, and just who they want to market their game to.

Plenty of fans are ready for mature content on all fronts...just maybe not the BSN. Story driven RPG's like Mass Effect and The Witcher get the burden of tackling these issues more than other types of games simply because the story content in them is taken so seriously.

Oh, and if one more person posts an immature, whiny 'that's what the internet is for' I'm going to explode.

Here you go.

The original meaning of words is irrelevant. The common use today is what matters.

Why not? The 0.75 second snippet answers all my questions:

Are they awkwardly humping with all their clothes on? No.

No more investigation required.

They weren't doing... anything. It just showed Ashley's face and her bra strap. Oooooooh, artsy.

I'm glad we can all agree on what's tasteful.  And, uhm, why are breasts immature?
