For some odd reason my cpu is at 100% when I am just at the menu. I do have a nvidia graphics card and I have disabled the physx thing. I also turned off my firewall to see if that was the problem. Anybody else know why my cpu is always at 100%?
My cpu is overdoing it.

What kind of computer specs do you have? Try running dxdiag.exe and add the information from the first page to this thread. You should get something like this:

Ah, stupid me, i forgot the first page does not list video card data. Could i also ask which video card brand and type you have?

Hmm, your system should certainly be capable of running Dragon Age without a hitch. Show a few more questions:
1) Is it the dragon Age process that takes up all the CPU, or is it totalling out at 100%? (Read: Does the idle process also use a bit?)
2) Is it consistently at 100% or is it rising and dropping a bit? Do you notice any significant slowdowns because of it?
3) Does this only happen when you play Dragon Age, or does it happen with every game you play?
4) And last: Did you have any issues with security related software lately? At times they can be responsible for this. Also, do you have any background processes running?

The 100% "bug" hits some people across various builds, there does not seem to be a set CPU type it happens too, some AMD Phenoms, X2 etc get it and some Intel C2D and C2Q folks get it, while other with near the same system do not.
One fix is ALT tab, go to your task manager and change the Affinity from 2 cores to one, or 4 cores to 3 etc. This has helped some people.

I'll try the Affinity to see if that works
But concerning the questions
1)I did not check to see if dragon age was taking most of the cpu usage or all of it.
2)it is consistent about it being at 100% I didn't actually start the game and play it just noticed it at the menu
3) the only other game this has happened on is the Left 4 Dead 2 demo
4) The only thing I have running in the background is my anti virus software Mcafee and steam which is where I bought the game from.
Also steam just effed up so I had to reinstall it including most of my games... awesome just awesome

It's the same in XP. But is there an actual problem? Are you getting poor performance? Just bring up the task manager, right click on the daorgins process, click set affinity, then unselect all but one CPU.

If you do that you get a max of 50% constant cpu usage. So how does that make sense at all ?

LMAO I gotta love the community. Seems like there doing more for us the Bioware/EA. You would think with the 3 major problems such as this , CTD and Memory Usage "Leak" Etc. You would think Bioware or EA would of had a patch by now.

CorusDaar, if you set affinity, you're turning off cores. If you kill one of two cores in a dual-core system, you'll run at 50% because the remaining core is still being maxed out.
Yes, I have the same issue, and affinity unfortunately did nothing.
Ah well...

I'm having the 100% issue, but I'm not noticing any poor performance in-game.
In fact, I'm not noticing reduced performance out-of-game either - despite CPU being pegged at 100% by DA, it seems to yield to other processes when they need CPU time.
