I just finished creating a flawless profile (or at least up to halfway through the game where I am now) on a free 3rd party program (am i allowed to name it on this forum?) to give the Xbox 360 controller the same functionality as the keyboard in the original Mass Effect, and was wondering if anyone had any interest in me making a simple instruction guide on how to get the 360 controller working with the newest Mass Effect when it comes out?  I might have to make a seperate file for each class (adept, vanguard, etc), but personally, it makes more sense to create a controller setup for each class instead of having a general one anyways.  What do you think?  Should I just stick to making one for myself, or should I post any controller setup that I create?

People are always looking for them, why not. I use xpadder now, so I'm good. :)

Ok. And should I post (though I don't know how) my profile for ME 1? That answers one question for me, since I (now I know I can name it) used xpadder as well. At the very least, xpadder, while a great tool, can be very trying confusing when setting up multiple buttons (especially sequences and sets), so it might be good to post it for those looking to avert wasting hours making a good setup.

Oh I found one for Pinnacle Game Profiler (I find it a lot better and easier to use than Xpadder). It's already setup for you but you still can edit it and change it if you don't like this setup. It's almost setup the same way you play it on the Xbox 360. I tried it on the Mass Effect 3 (PC) Demo on Origin and it works great.

So hey, BioWare, if you guys are so stretched thin on manpower for development of the game, why don't you send me up to Canada? I'll add 360 controller support for free. Seriously.

So I was finally allowed access to this page again now that I've purchased the new game, and am posting my Xbox 360 Controller setup for ME1, ME3 Multiplayer, and ME3 Campaign. I posted a profile & file for each of the above uses, and included a read-me file for more detailed descriptions
on what each button does (please go easy on me for the read-me - I've never made one before).
I'm also including links to my rar file with everything in one file for your convenience, and where xpadder can be downloaded. Hope you enjoy it!!!!

Note for ME1:
ME1 is customized for a vanguard, but can be easily used by any class. The controls can be easily customized further in the 'assignments' section when you click on the button in Xpadder
to change (don't change it on the keyboard layout, since most buttons have dual purposes).
Also note: the vehicles buttons need a quick change in-game, and I included directions on how to go about that in the read-me file as well. Enjoy!!!!

I KNEW I forgot something lol. For those of you that have never used Xpadder before, here's a quick basic tutorial to make the above work. Pay attention to where you install it from the above link, because you'll need to copy/cut and paste to that folder (you'll know it's the right one because xpadder includes some template profile/files in the same folder.

When you open it up, you'll see two bars on the left and right side with text. Click on the RIGHT bar of text and find the group you want (ex: Mass Effect Settings, Mass Effect 3 Campaign..). It'll automatically update the left side with the file needed, and you're good to go.

Last note: Xpadder can't work unless it's running, so make sure you create a shortcut or have easy access to the program when you want to launch ME1 or ME3!!!

sorry for spamming my own thread here, but I included one last variant to my online folder (called ME3 Campaign (variant). The only thing I changed is the 'back' button on the Xbox controller to Quickslot 7. I'm using that as my main ammo power, but in return, I'll have to hit Esc. on the keyboard to get to squad powers.

One last thing to note with everything - none of the menu's are very friendly with this setup. You might find it easier to use a mouse in the original game menu to open the game, but it is possible to use the gamepad for it as well. Feel free to ask any questions or give me feedback, as I'm curious what everyone else thinks about this setup!!!

Great! Thank you for this! I struggled with this for an hour last night, and gave up, and just started playing with my mouse and keyboard. I look forward to trying this when I get off work!

For those like me who are wondering what is up with Mass Effect 3's Controller Support. Take a look at their Mass Effect 3 Demo FAQ.

"Which controllers does the PC demo support?
There is no official support for controllers beyond the Xbox 360 Controller for Windows."

I for one have the aforementioned Xbox 360 Controller for Windows and it doesn't work in Mass Effect 3 Demo. Also doesn't work in Mass Effect 3 Full Release.

They claim to Support controllers to some extent. But seeing how it currently doesn't work for me at least I'm questioning why they would list it. I also highly agree with the want of being able to use Controllers or having FULL controller support for Mass Effect games.

Well it works pretty well with this setup Chucky. I was able to play both the campaign and multiplayer in the demo with this (I put in a LOT of hours, in fact, only to lose all my progress when the game came out :( ) Let me know what you think - I'm still playing with my 360 controller and really enjoying it. Although.. I'm still going back and forth with using the variant on my site (as an adept in ME3, I actually need even MORE than 8 quickslots, so there's a lot of switching going on). Maybe there will be a patch to add more quickslots in the future, but for now, this is a good setup I think.

Hi all the Renegade here, :) thanks to Mistcrawler, The_Star_Treker, optmuspraim. etc i wasnt able to get dpadder to work im a bit of a noob. but the Pinacle game profiler works fine straigtht up . though i still use a wireless keyboard for spamming my biotics. I switch my wireless mouse of when i play. if your a tech guru iam sure dpadder is good but i found it not very rookie friendly to callibrate with. check out Mistcrawler's post if you want the dpadder version. or the Star_Treker's or optmuspraim's for the Pinacle Game Profiler. first time i asked another gamer they couldnt translate how to do it. so spread the word its so much easier with xbox controller and keyboard. thanks everyone (AsariRenegade01) is my game tag in multiplayer any one needs another trooper for multiplayer on PC , on the special ops or casual just holler. this is why i like Bioware gamers we try to help each other out not like some of the other ones. the Renegade out :).
