I've seen a video for the endings... not happening.

I would not say "no" to marriage. Let the option exist for the people that want it. The people that do not simply don't have to pursue it.

I think it would be an interesting topic to discuss with each romance, and see how they each react to it. If it were done in-game, I would prefer it be in a post-credit or epilogue format, though.

That would require a decision though. It seems these blasphemous decisions have been removed. I mean it's not like people saved all their crew because they wanted them to live or anything. Nah we secretly wanted them all to suffer a grim fate all along.

If what I'm hearing is correct Bioware seems to think so.

That would explain the endings.

That's what I was referring to. For what it's worth I hope these leaks are false, or incomplete, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Yep, I'm hoping the leaks are incomplete like if someone leaked Shep definitely dies in ME2 back then only because the leak person couldn't find the other SM outcomes. But not looking good yet.

Yeah - because its not like thousands of soldiers got hitched on a whim before shipping off for WW2 or anything...

Life doesn't stop if the world plunges into war - in fact - I would argue we need those life grounding moments more.

Extremely good point ^^^^  The saying "love and war"  it most of the time goes hand in hand.  But I agree with what you said... life doesn't stop, people always try to keep hope even at the darkest hour. Human nature :)  I for one would love to marry an LI.  It doesn't look good tho... none of it looks good.  :crying:

would it not be safer to assume, in that future and world, they have done away with marriages and galaxy inhabitants simply choose freely who to be with and doing away with the little piece of paper?

Noticed you said "before shipping off" that's not the same as "while on the field of battle" now is it?

Erm, with the galaxy going to hell I don't think marriage will be the top of anyone's list, not least the persons involved in the attempt to save the galaxy.

Firstly it'd be an incredibly selfish thing to do, and then it just wouldn't do to make a widow/widower out of the LI (admittedly you'd be in the same boat) in a few short days/weeks.

From what I understand, Shepard isn't always "on the battlefield".  Gathering all the other races together, and some of which don't even know there is a battle going on.  So technically he could in fact get hitched.  Many soldiers have done that while on R&R from Iraq/Afghanistan.  I did :)    And ya I get that you don't like the idea of it, and that is perfectly fine, to each their own.  Not saying your wrong.. I am just explaining why I think it can be possible. <3

I really like a good love story to be honest. I think it would be cool if before they go off to the final battle your character and whoever you decided to be their LI decided to get married in secret, kind of like a little private ceremony that Anakin and Padme had in Episode II from Star Wars. I would be shocked if this were an option, but it would be kind of cool for the fans, especially for the fans who didn't cheat on Ashley or Liara in ME2.

ooooo a secret wedding WOULD be neat :) and very appropriate for this type of situation. I would be shocked as well, I do know that some folks had said in the older scripts there was something about a wedding or a proposal in there. Wish they would have kept it, but then again I wish there was an option for a happier ending.. I actually was SHOCKED to find out what the endings were gonna be like and with that said... I have no idea what to think anymore. A bit on the depressed side since finding it all out :/

Has it been confirmed that this isn't an option? I read that someone from Bioware had said that the relationship with your LI will be solved in ME3 to where you make a final decision on who to romance and let it be that. I think a secret wedding would be very appropriate for the situation also :)

I HIGHLY doubt that this will be an option, as much as I would seriously want that option! I think when they say it will be "solved" in ME3 is that it will leave no strings attached and you say what you have to say to them before the last battle. I am not sure if you had read any of the spoilers yet or not so I won't go into why I think that. But ya apparently it will just be a no loose ends kind of thing...I have not heard of a marriage, only in the old scripts was it there or hinted at.

I haven't played ME3 yet but my idea is it's no down time or R&R. Reapers are not just coming, they came, they saw, they killed kids, they are on Earth. So I'm envisioning ME3 is not going to have R&R time. And Shep is pretty focused when it comes to the Reaper threat in the two previous games.

And that's why I "don't like the idea" as you put it. Story and character just doesn't exactly seem like it's a logical thing to do at the time. Notice the "at the time" part. To me, the character would say "Let's get married soon after we kick some Reaper ****."  Again, it would be out of character for a driven Shepard who has been so focused on the Reaper threat to suddenly say let's get married to... whoever. Every one of the LI's are not on-going. VS is at best up in the air at the beginning of ME3 (going by the demo). Liara has been off being the SB and if you got a LI in ME2, she says she's fine with it in the after talk of LotSB to show it's not a committed one-on-one relationship at that point. So looking at the available options, that's basically Shep running off with someone without having a sole LI or even if it is the relationship isn't marriage serious yet.

So Shep is a type of character to put that on the backburner until the Reapers were dealt with even if he/she was planning the wedding for the last two months prior. But again, what BW said about how Arrival leads to ME3, Shep isn't planning a wedding but about to stand trial at the time of the Reaper attack.

Btw, since you mentioned your own, did your wife (I'm assuming you're a straight male here but if I'm wrong then apology) go to Iraq/Afghanistan for the wedding?

Liara?

Yes

Seriously? ../../../images/forum/emoticons/andy.png Where's your proof?

Gotta say, if that's true... GOD SAKE BIOWARE! WTF!?

Not only Liara. And tbh it isn't a "canon" fact but.......you have to see it to undestand.
Sadly, what is "fact" is that some LI topics in this forum are going to explode after Tuesday. "Lovestorm" is coming.

There is good chunks of time where Shep and crew are not on the battlefield and have down time in ME3.

Has anyone hear, has BW confirmed or denied anything about these suck a** endings?
