Taking time to get married while trying to save the galaxy? Wow.

Yeah - because its not like thousands of soldiers got hitched on a whim before shipping off for WW2 or anything...

Life doesn't stop if the world plunges into war - in fact - I would argue we need those life grounding moments more.

Noticed you said "before shipping off" that's not the same as "while on the field of battle" now is it?

From what I understand, Shepard isn't always "on the battlefield".  Gathering all the other races together, and some of which don't even know there is a battle going on.  So technically he could in fact get hitched.  Many soldiers have done that while on R&R from Iraq/Afghanistan.  I did :)    And ya I get that you don't like the idea of it, and that is perfectly fine, to each their own.  Not saying your wrong.. I am just explaining why I think it can be possible. <3

I haven't played ME3 yet but my idea is it's no down time or R&R. Reapers are not just coming, they came, they saw, they killed kids, they are on Earth. So I'm envisioning ME3 is not going to have R&R time. And Shep is pretty focused when it comes to the Reaper threat in the two previous games.

And that's why I "don't like the idea" as you put it. Story and character just doesn't exactly seem like it's a logical thing to do at the time. Notice the "at the time" part. To me, the character would say "Let's get married soon after we kick some Reaper ****."  Again, it would be out of character for a driven Shepard who has been so focused on the Reaper threat to suddenly say let's get married to... whoever. Every one of the LI's are not on-going. VS is at best up in the air at the beginning of ME3 (going by the demo). Liara has been off being the SB and if you got a LI in ME2, she says she's fine with it in the after talk of LotSB to show it's not a committed one-on-one relationship at that point. So looking at the available options, that's basically Shep running off with someone without having a sole LI or even if it is the relationship isn't marriage serious yet.

So Shep is a type of character to put that on the backburner until the Reapers were dealt with even if he/she was planning the wedding for the last two months prior. But again, what BW said about how Arrival leads to ME3, Shep isn't planning a wedding but about to stand trial at the time of the Reaper attack.

Btw, since you mentioned your own, did your wife (I'm assuming you're a straight male here but if I'm wrong then apology) go to Iraq/Afghanistan for the wedding?

Considering this isn't going to happen in game, I have already gone through the stages of grief :P  I understand like the romance of say Vega (even tho i dont think hes LI status) but starting "something" with him I totally agree with you about running off with him if its JUST started. It would be a bit random O.o  But I am one of the ones who would love this, and I know alot of people who would too.  Since this game isn't realistic.. ie Shepard brought back from death, it isn't all that unrealistic to have a proposal or a wedding for an epilogue or something.
And actually I am a girl gamer :) I was military, got out and while he was deployed Afghanistan on his R&R we got married :)   And this might actually explain why I would like the thought of a proposal/marriage... hopeless romantic
And what you say I totally understand, and I know it is unrealistc as something to add in the game when we are at war.  But if I was shep and knew that the inevitability of shep and/or LI getting killed... I would think that some kind of promise/proposal wouldn't be too much to ask especially if you may never see that person again.  Damn I can't believe I am actually having this conversation LOL  its making me sad!  I really really don't agree with these endings being the only ones we are given. One happy ending would suffice!!!!!! Seriously depressing... :crying:

Edit:  I was talking about in real life if I was really Shepard, not the games endings.  I was just saying in my opinion if this were happening etc... Sorry for the confusion, I just picked up on what you were asking.

Now proposal makes sense and I wouldn't have an issue with that. And actually that would be a more natural progression. But actually getting married means proposal and immediately getting married here which would seem too rushed IMHO.

And yes those leaked endings are depressing and might mean this is the first ME game I just play once because it might be too bad to play it again. Which means no future DLC purchases from me. I wouldn't even buy an alternate ending DLC like what was done for Fallout 3. So I'm still hoping the people who leaked the ending just messed up something and that was all they had to choose from. Like an earlier decision opens up something else.

And on a personal note, many thanks to you and the hubby for serving (your avatar helped me think guy btw lol which I know avatars here can be wrong as people just use a favorite character as my previous one was). :D

The only BioWare game I've played that had any kind of wedding ceremony was BG 2-ToB, so no one cans ay it could never happen in a BioWare game since it already has.
