Before importing a ME2 save over I'd highly suggest hopping on your ME2 character, going to the tech lab, and using the prototype upgrade that refunds all your skill points...

And not reassigning them? Any particular reason? Does it make them available for you to use in ME3? is this a bug that might have to be fixed? have I now asked too much?!

But do you seriously think they won't give you all your points?
They did the same in mass effect 2 when you imported..

I don't thing ME 3 will lock your skill points into place. What if you switch classes?

Sorry went to eat dinner. Anyway I got an early release of the game and started campaign. A good chunk of my Vanguard's points were freed up, such as those in Reave from ME2 for example, but the points I had in charge and shockwave transferred through directly into charge and shockwave in ME3. Considering some power evolutions are different in ME3 that's why I'm suggest you refund your points before a transfer. I refunded mine and re-started my ME3 campaign and it began with all of my points ready to be allocated without anything already partially filled.

Also I don't imagine this would apply if you change classes but if you're staying in the same class, i.e. vanguard to vanguard, it'd suggest doing the refund.

Except that wouldn't work. The 4th level of shockwave would be different in ME3 than in ME2.

Doesn't the Normandy have easy re-spec options, anyway? Or do those only get unlocked later?

Not sure about later, just started and noticed they were allocated already so I found it easier to just refund and then put them where I wanted.

I think this is more of convenience than any real importance. If your unable to reset your skills for a mission or two due to the reset ability being in a locked section of the ship, then resetting them prior to importing would probably allow you to import with all your skills ready to assign.

If anything, just a time saver is all.

I'm just not sure if I believe what he said.  Aren't there multiple paths for the skills, now?  Why wouldn't they refund all of your points?

Lol, because I have so many reasons to lie? All I know is shockwave was great in ME2 and I think it blows in this game so being forced to be 4 levels into shockwave at the beginning of the game is not my idea of points being spent usefully.

I found shockwave useless in ME2, but in ME3 it looks better and can take out those shields for Cerberus.

Really? I always found it great in 2 for knocking enemies out of cover. I've been using Pull against the guardians in campaign and it's quite effective for taking away that obnoxious shield.

Pull removes shields? Mmm...

The shield thing was stupid you're right, an energy field based on kinetic properties was much better than a physical shield... going back to a physical shield makes little sense, just work on hardening the energy shields...

Singularity was used for removing cover.

I was disappointed with what the demo showed us were the classes set abilities... A grenade for the adept doesn't sit right with me and singularity doesn't seem that strong anymore, especially with enemies spacing out EVEN MORE than in 2.

And I don't have barrier now... ugh.

Yeah I only upgraded singularity to level 4 for the radius , didn't find the last 2 upgrades particularly useful since I'm usually detonating it
