Not completely random but for 1 I wanted the multi-target evolution and it had force selected a force/damage evolution.

I'm confused... If I import a ME2 character, my Shepard won't be a level 1 character at the start of ME3?

Could you check if you can respec(or you get auto-respecced) when on the Normandy after leaving Earth, if you start with a character that has points auto-allocated? If you'd rather just play the game, no problem, this is a minor incnvenience anyway ,,,

I think you will start at level 20 but not 100% sure

How do the upgrades for weapons and armor work? And can you switch your squads armor?

I finished ME2 at lv 30 and started ME3 at lvl 30, also my squad members are lv 30 as well so my guess is whatever level you end at, you start at. I just started touring through the Normandy about 5 minutes ago so I'll update on if there's a respect option on-board at the start.

Edit: Didn't finish touring the whole thing yet but damn the Normandy is sure nice.  Med-bay does offer a respec option, first times free, 2nd was 5,000 so I haven't bothered buying it or seeing how high it goes.

This is slightly disappointing. I'm sure this was done with the intention of being something of a reward for those whom have played the previous game, but I'd prefer an option to import a character and start at level 1 for my first playthrough.

From what I'm noticing after you find a weapon you can purchase upgrades directly for it down in the armory.  You can also find upgrades/armor.  After you've found a shop in the citadel or whereever you can basically use the armory as a shopping terminal at a 10% price markup, pretty convinent.

I will say it's making the playthrough a complete breeze.  I'll probably kick it up to Insane to help level out the difficulty.  Having 3 skills maxed at starts turns the enemy into a bunch of jokes.

Why isn't there a respec option by default at the start anyways with imports? seems werid that ME2 did it but not ME3.

Well, it's just a few easy battles anyways. They probably did that to prevent you from being destroyed by lvl 30 enemies if you don't bother or forget to access the squad menu the moment you gain control of Shep, thus leaving you at essentially lvl 1 for the opening sequence. Makes sense for newer players mostly.

Well, it's better to get this stuff squared away now than wait for the post-release firestorm.

What about bonus power? someone said you unlock them by talking to squad member, do you have access to warp ammo yet?

Haven't progressed enough to unlock bonus powers, if you still can.  Not sure what the requirements are for them.

Hmmm, since you're willing to help...

-Do squadmembers start at the same level as Shep? Can they be respecced in the medbay? Do they get auto-assigned points as well?

Squad members are not auto-assigned points, they can be respecced in medbay, 0 first time, 5,000 2nd, im guessing the price keeps rising. and yes they start the same level as shepard

What weapons and armor carry over from ME2? Or do you get instant access to them right away? Or, is it that you have access to them from the shop right away but have to buy them?

Also, does the bonus power carry over from ME2? What happens when you pick a new class? Does that bonus power stay, regardless of class change? If that's so, I should load up ME2 and do that lol. Reave is the best.

To my knowledge bonus powers have to be re-obtained. I know I had a little chit-chat with Garrus and Armor Piercing Ammo was available again so it's not hard to get them. I didn't start with any weapons aside from the Predator and Katana, though you find weapons rather quickly. Armor's from previous games much be purchased. They're for sale at various kiosks throughout the citadel averaging 50,000 credits.

Aside from the starter gear the only additional weapons/'armor you start with is pre-order bonus or items relevative to ME3 in particular, like the Kingdoms of Amalar free armor/gun.
