When I force 4x multisampling + 4x Sparse Grid Supersampling with NVIDIA  Inspector using the Mass Effect 2 AA compatibility flag, my FPS  drops from a locked 60 with no drops, to shaky 30s.  Does anyone know a way that I could force AA  without destroying my FPS  (Inspector compatibility flags, alternate non-blurring methods, etc.)?  My graphics card is a GTX  570 with the latest beta drivers (295.73) and I am playing at 1080p if it helps.

Even 2x2 supersampling is giving me better frames, but I would still prefer atleast 50 fps.

disable vsync, or enable triple buffering. why would you use nvidia inspector. generic nvidia control panel has already per-applications controls, and lots of options.

Vsync really has nothing to do with my issue, and Nvidia Inspector is much more powerful and has more options than the control panel.

"More powerful"? An control application isn't somehow going to give your graphics card more performance...

Go to Documents\\Bioware\\Mass Effect 3 Demo\\BioGame\\Config\\GamerSettings.ini. Try adding the line "MaxMultisamples=4" under [SystemSettings]. It won't enable MSAA in game automatically, but I've heard it can improve performance when trying to force MSAA.

EDIT:  Meant to say "performance", not "options".

The options you named are available from control panel, and dropping from 60 to 30 fps, sounds very like vsync issue. However, you are not forced to follow my advice.

I don't have  VSync on, but shaky 30s means I  average around 30 with some drops with AA  on.

Nvidia Control Panel doesn't allow SGSSAA, full-scene supersampling, no ability to set custom compatibility flags, and Inspector just generally allows a lot more options and I prefer the interface.

I will try the tweak you provided SSV, thanks.

There are also some games that have certain AA  behavior flags that you have to turn off in Inspector before things your forcing works properly. Example: A game may have the behavior flag "Treat Override Application setting as Application Controlled".

me3 forces vsync so you have to explicitly disable it.

I have it off in my config and also forced off from Nvidia Inspector.

ForceFullVsync=False
and
UseVsync=False

My framerate jumps between 50 and 25 with MSAA on, but with 2x supersampling, which is basically the performance equivalent of running at 3840x2160, I average 40ish.  Unreal Engine 3 isn't all that efficient with MSAA, but I'm sure there are a few ways to reduce the performance hit.

My settings work perfect with mass effect 3
http://social.biowar...4/index/9584008

Leave everything at default settings

And btw Sparse Grid Supersampling is bad form of supersampling, stick to the normal supersampling it's superior in every way (but a little more demanding) but it creates no side effects of the Sparse Grid Supersampling (blur or bugs in some games)
