Five or six discs, you was lucky then. In older times we had to use tapes which had load times of 20-30 minutes per tape. With a chance upon loading that it did not load correctly due to alignment being off on the tape deck requiring getting out the screwdriver and realigning by random guess how much to twist one screw and then having to load it all over again just to play slots or a text based adventure.

Ah...those were the days.. *wipes a tear from eye*.  I had the dear old speccy.  Such a lovely sound as it loaded,  a nice 10 minute countdown to when the game would start up...only for it to then crash.  How things have gone downhill.

Oh no 5 seconds to switch disc! How will I survive?!

It can get extremely annoying when you have to do it back and forth.

Having played Star Ocean 4 on the 360 exstensively I can confirm that it will get very annoying very, very quickly.

Would you rather have disc swapping or a constrained game to minimise it? Tryign to reduce disc swapping forced recruitment order in ME2 after all.

Well it's not quite as bad as FFIX but disk swapping in this age is laughable.

I play somethings on consoles, but I need ME3 in all it's HD glory

Disc swapping? You xboxers have to shovel coal regularly into it to get it to run as well? Image IPB

I have no problem with this.

I prefer disc swapping to arbitrary plot chokepoints.

For me, the 360 is superior than the PC for playing Mass Effect 3, because I still have my original Shepards from Mass Effect 1 on the 360. All my friends, who I will be playing multiplayer with, are also on the 360.

If I had any complaint at all, it's with Microsoft, and the fact that they gimp their console to force disc swaps even after you've installed all discs (yes, it's a Microsoft DRM requirement; they will not let your game launch on the console unless you make it work that way).

Fidget and Joker are right, you completely misread that link. Both are fine for the citadel, but major missions require 1 or the other.

Likely meaning it is like ME2. FIrst half requires disc 1. Second half requires disc 2.

I'm fine with swapping discs. Not having to cater to lazy people who can't be bothered to switch discs is part of why ME2 was so linear and why ME3 will be even more so.

It's not a case of being an elitist.

Plane and simple PC's outclass current consoles in every way shape and form!

512mb of RAM please.

When I played games with multiple disks, I looked for the option that would allow to install them without constant swapping.

It's a nuisance, and it was a nuisance when it was the norm.

Usually games with multiple discs only asked you to swap-out once, but they were far more linear experiences. When so, those were the days before hard drives- I don't understand why you can't install both discs to the hard drive and only use the first disc for copyright validation, given that other games have done it.

Hell, it's exactly the same as PC gaming. Why Bioware decided not to do this is anyones guess.

I remember the days when I'd play Baldur's gate 1 on 6 CDs (+1 more for expansion pack), there was disc swapping every 5 minutes or so. Fun, fun times.

I used to dream of only having to swap discs every 5 minutes.

Regardless of what platform you play it on, being PS3, Xbox360, or PC, just rejoice in the fact that after eight (eight right?) years, we're finally going to see the end of this most awesome storyline.
