I was under the impression that the Reapers "harvested" advanced civilizations and left evolving ones intact in order to save organic life as a whole, as opposed to letting advanced civilizations create synthetic life which would, in turn, eventually wipe out all organic life, period.

Is this incorrect, or are the people confused by it incorrect?

How did you get it?!

It seems nonsense. Worst reason ever.

Edit: So Reapers are the good guys, Cerberus is bad?

It's both really. Organic creates synthetic that will eventually kill all organic. Reapers uplift organic to save ultimately from synthetic destruction. Reapers are a combo of both. But in a way also allow life to continue by preventing organics from consuming all galactic resources. Lame.

You see mass effect is in the distant past and then they threw all the technology in the sun and went back to cave man days and now we are back at almost space age again! You see we all used to be half cylons and whatever and now we are making robots again and its going to happen again! Also edi is now caprica 6 in mass effect 3.

Theyre not the good guys, tough their purpose is good(save organic life from synthetic takeover), their resolution and methods are extremely insane and brutal. But a machine doesnt care, only the end matters if its programmed to do it. It also doesnt matter about the whole paradox, thats the beauty of the whole programming.

To Kill Nihilus, the one man who could save the universe without also destroying it.

Reapers harvest organic species and encase their essence, thus preserving it. "Singularity" AIs just flat out destroy it.

*thinks .. thinks* I don't remember my memory sucks!

Final Conclusion:
- Reapers gonna reap and are the good guys who set the universe at balance.
- Geth like All synthetics are evil, but not as pure evil as Cerberus (put there because of fans requests )
- Meh Ending ... Lame :(

Actually, I understand it perfectly. Scene: Game Director That Will Remain Nameless Due To New Site Rules paces back and forth in a room. "We're out of time and almost out of budget. We need an idea, quickly!"

Lead Writer That Will Remain Nameless Due To New Site Rules: "I just watched a BSG marathon last night. I've got an idea!" *Keyboard clicking*

Lead Writer That Will Remain Nameless Due To New Site Rules: "Here! Call Mark, Jennifer, and get Dennis's kid. Have them record these lines."

Game Director That Will Remain Nameless Due To New Site Rules: "Genius! So, how do we spend our Bonus?"

There you go.

*Note* This isn't an "Attack" on anyone. I'm sure nothing like this actually happened...

I'd have wiped out an entire human colony for some decent eggrolls, so hard to get them where I live.

Really the whole geth thing was just a big accident. Saren told the geth to make egg rolls, and they interpreted it as Make heads roll.

lol

They just rushed it, because they couldn't make the ideal game in just 2 years. Or simply it was beyond their writing/designing abilities to create the (near)masterpiece version of ME3.

The synethetics wipe out organics that could eventually make synethetics that could wipe out organics. Vicious cycle.

If Organics just destroyed a race of cyborg space gods that have been harvesting all advanced civilizations for billions of years i wouldn't be too worried about the geth rising up or any synthetic for that matter.

No one said all synthetics are evil. Why do people seem to think of this from the Reaper perspective? Are all Jews evil because the adherents to National Socialism believe that they are? No. It's an insane sect bent on the destruction of others to "save" the rest of the world. Just because the people that built the Reapers think they are the good guys, doesn't mean the rest of the galaxy (or the player/viewer) must think they are good guys. Hitler believed what he was doing was right. He was wrong. Reapers believe what they are doing is right. Whether they are or not, is up for YOU to decide.

The Geth should have their own Guardian Reapers, aimed to preserve future AIs from the emergence of a genocidal Shepard.

Don't you mean the geth should have had their own Shepard, to prevent future Reapers from emerging to cause a Shepard to step up and kill the Geth?
