Sometimes characters are necessary for the story. Otherwise you are dead-ended.
Guess the Programmer can give you the option to not accept Oghren's help then immediately cut to "The End - As the Wardens wander the Deep Roards for Eternality looking for Banka".
Do you like that better?

Once again, I repeat. Oghren is NOT necessary to navigate the Deep Roads. You do NOT need him in your party to find your way. He only forcefully adds himself to your camp, and later forcefully joins your active group during the final fight, at which point you're already at the anvil and don't need a guide.

If the PC can navigate the fade, ancient ruins in forests and mountains, and kill dragons, I'm sure he can find his way underground as well.

Meh. Them's the breaks. I can put up with a few plot-forcing characters, since most of the other characters you can take or leave at will. Morrigan and Alistair are plot-necessary, but the only times you're forced to deal with either are at the beginning of the game when you first get them, and toward the end in the Landsmeet. As for the others, you could choose to ditch all of them at some point. That's not half-bad.

Besides, most BioWare games have a few characters you just can't dump for plot reasons, but that doesn't mean you have to spend the whole game putting up with them. Just ditch them in camp and don't talk to them. Easy as pie. That's what I did to Kaidan in Mass Effect.

How do you finish the "andrastes ashes" quest if you don't have a full party. How do you make the bridge?

Shade demons are waiting by the bridge to help you. Who knew they would be so helpful?

But Oghren is awesome. He's definitely the best dps warrior aside from a pc war.

Well no matter how you put it, it is terribly fitting to Oghren's personality to force himself into your party and not taking a no for an answer... Though they should have made him a forced member f the party from the moment you set out in search of Branka, and not just when you find her... For lore reasons, he is supposed to be your guide you know.

Yeah, but if we're talking role playing and personalities, then my character should have an option to kill him for forcing his way into the party (so I can get more approval from Morrigan).

I have to agree with the OP.  This was probably the most annoying moment in the game.  I had to leave my rogue behind when Oghren forced his way into the party.

I didn't enjoy Oghren forcing his way into my group either as it forced me to drastically alter my battle strategy and made the anvil fight harder than it should've been, though plotwise it does make sense.  Perhaps this will be modded at some point.
