Is there more original stuff by Clint Mansell in the game or are those two two the only cues by him?

Only 2.

Rest is by Cris / Sasha / Cristoper.

Your lack of Sam Hulick disturbs me.

F*** ty for reminding me, my memory forgot -.-.

What I would like to know is whether Mansell worked on more pieces than just those two.

Will the soundtrack from the XBox 360 CE be downloadable on PC or will I have to download it to my XBox 360?

It should appear in your BSN downloads when you register the game. Image IPB

Really glad they're .wav files personally. Burnable w/ no compression to screw w/ the actual content of the music.

It's great to get .wav files. Hope to see future releases also without any compression in the highest quality possible. Keep up the good work and thanks for this one.

Hi all :)

As many of you have mentioned, the soundtrack's content doesn't directly correlate to the content in the game. There are different requirements for both the soundtrack and the game. There was a LOT of original music in ME3 (I think we ended up with about three hours in the end) and condensing that into a soundtrack that made sense in it's own right meant a lot of pieces were left out.

I'm really happy with how it turned out though... and I tried to name the tracks in a non-spoilerific way... but the names will TOTALLY make sense once you play the game. Put a lot of thought into the naming :)

Just so you know, we generally have music composed into tiny chunks that are then assembled at runtime to create what you hear in game based on what you're doing. It's very difficult to turn that into a soundtrack that SOUNDS like a soundtrack and not just a bunch of random cues crossfaded together... so I'm really glad you're liking it!

Finally, as has been mentioned, wave files are the best quality format to have. You're essentially getting the final, highest quality assets, straight from my sound editor to you. If you want to make them into MP3's or ogg or whatever else, that's totally your choice. Let me know if this is a real pain so in the future we can reassess how we deliver the soundtracks.

Looking forward to next week, can't wait!!!

R

Not a pain at all Rob! If you think you need to release MP3 versions for future games, that's fine, but please keep the lossless option available. Already converted mine to FLAC B)

Thanks for the response. I generally think that using an open lossless format like FLAC (and pointing people in the right direction on how to listen to FLAC) might save you guys and the downloaders some bandwidth and time.

It seems we have another great soundtrack in a Mass Effect game! It sounds like it fits the universe and we already know that Leaving Earth is quite a memorable moment thanks to the music. Hopefully there are more pleasant surprises and moments like Ilos Battle that was not in ME1 OST.

Although it must be said that while listening to Mass Effect 3 Soundtrack - The Scientists it felt a bit too familiar.. then I figured out why: Deus Ex: Human Revolution Soundtrack - 8. Return To Hengsha

... they have taken some influence, eh? It would have been quite a distracting moment to hear this in-game the first time and have all those Hengsha-flashbacks in ME3 ^_^

Good luck to the masses on figuring out how to listen to FLAC tracks on their iPods/iPhones/car stereos/etc.  Not impossible, but it's not something I would wish on a non-techy type last time I checked it out.

Adding the option to download pre-conveted FLAC or .mp3 is fine (.wav and relatively high bit rate .mp3 make the most sense to me), but please continue to make .wav files available in the future.

If I'm not mistaken, it's a part from "An End Once And For All.".

Would anyone be kind enough to provide the composers for each song? I've somehow lost their names when importing... :/

Sweet Jesus, it's like they convinced the Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 soundtracks to make sweet salty love. The result is a love child that is sci-fi techno and epic orchestra. Damn you bioware! You've set the par too damn high for gaming soundtracks!
